I get advice almost on a daily basis. This is from an old friend:
Hello Bob,
Here I go again, sticking my nose in someone else’s business but I consider you a friend who will still be a friend even after I do such a deed. 🙂
Here’s the question: Might this last-minute fall-through of the sale of your home in the Keys be a sign from God that moving to Costa Rica is NOT His plan for you at this time?
I will elaborate some . . . First I apologize for not writing shortly after you let the world know of your decision to move but I was just hesitant to do so. Here’s my thoughts and questions . . . America as a country is way off course from our founding principles. You and I both know Israel also ventured off course several times during their history and when they did, God withdrew His blessing from them. I do believe He’s done the same withdrawal from America for several reasons, not the least of which is the genocide we’ve allowed to happen via Roe v. Wade. What a disgrace!!!
There was a small remnant of Israelites who did stay loyal to God and they were able to guide their fellow citizens back to the path that honored Him. America needs that remnant and I plan to be in it. I am also asking you too to be a part of the remnant!!!
Where would you and I be today if Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Hamilton, Franklin, and the other founders decided to move to Costa Rica instead of staying and fighting the British? Those men of courage stayed and pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to shape America and follow what they felt was God’s direction. You and I need to do the same now. The heathens will not restore America!!
If Christians run from America, she will die for sure. The faith community must stay in the battle for the long haul and not give up or our country will have no chance to return to God’s ways. I feel very strongly that men like you and I must stay in the fight and do everything possible to point others to Him as THE solution to the ills of America. You have a wonderful platform in WFTD and you can continue to point others to God while at the same time encourage them to become fully informed about our American heritage and work to restore those founding principles of governing.

That website will introduce you to a plethora of materials they have generated as well as connect you to www.wallbuilders.com which is founded by David Barton. Rick Green is the founder of Patriot Academy. I know both of these fellows and they are the real deal. I’ve known David for 15-20 years and have been to his library as well as attended several of his courses.
Patriot Academy has one particular program I have been facilitating here in our church. The program is Biblical Citizenship in Modern America. It consists of 8 lessons and is available on DVD or jump drive and comes with a workbook. You can attend via zoom meetings on Monday evenings as well. This program does more to demonstrate the wayward path deviation “accomplished” by our country these last 50 years. The program clearly demonstrates the intent of the Founders as they wrote the Constitution. It inspires and informs Americans to get active, become informed voters, and take into the voting booth their Christian values and beliefs. We must elect Christians if we have any hope of turning the direction back toward God.
I’m sorry, I’ve taken this much of your time, but my friend, you have the platform, the grit, and the ability to really make a huge difference in the future of America for your kids and grandkids as well. Visit those two websites and get involved today. You can still visit Costa Rica when you want to, but there is a ton of work needing to be done here at home. Trying to do it while living abroad really damages the credibility for most people.
I love and respect you Bob, and we both love America enough to stay and fight for her survival.
My response:
Well old friend obviously you have put a lot of thought into this and are impassioned with your idea as being the best course of action for me. I appreciate that more than you know.
With that said we had already decided not to move full-time to Costa Rica and are going to rent a condo there and visit often. We have been looking for a small farm, 700 acres or so which we will make our home base. I will split my time between the two countries for as long as I care to do so.
You asked if losing the contract on our home on the day of closing could be a sign from God. I’m sure it is, but don’t much think it has anything to do with Costa Rica. Then again it might be. I don’t know the mind of God and He has not shared anything with me. I just trust it was for his pure and noble purpose and I’m fine with it.
As for the WFTD issue. I can write that from anywhere in the world using the internet and don’t plan to stop. I agree that America is way off course and the remnant should be working towards righting the ship. I think we differ in our thinking as to whether or not it can be righted in the United States or whether it is already doomed to Armageddon.
As a student of the Bible for over forty some odd years, I believe we are living in the last days. I won’t go into my interpretation of the Scriptures as to why I make that statement as it would take too long, but rest assured I believe the Lord could come at any time.
My work is being channeled towards evangelism. I use every tool at my disposal including writing WFTD, books, and sharing personal testimony to accomplish that. I don’t spend my time trying to save the “republic” but instead, focus on the lost souls of those whom I can influence to follow Jesus while there is yet time.
I served on a think tank with David Barton and know him, his wife, and son well. They love the Lord and their life’s work, and accomplishments are amazing. God is really using him. I know the Green family too and visited their Hobby Lobby facility in Oklahoma and while there viewed most of the items from their personal collection that are now in the Bible museum on a guided tour conducted by Steve Green. That family’s work is likewise mind-boggling. Just because I don’t join their various programs doesn’t mean I don’t think they are working towards their purpose in life. I think they are doing exactly what God wants them to do and God is using them to accomplish His purpose.
I see my purpose as being different and a lost soul in Costa Rica is just as important to me as a lost soul here in the United States. God sent the disciples out to many nations and the Great Commission is not reserved for Americans. I have no doubt I will impact people there or anywhere I go by urging them to seek God. Rest easy old friend I haven’t given up on God and trying to add lost souls to His kingdom. I may be old but I ain’t cold.
As for America, well I think time is running out and disaster is imminent. I recently wrote in WFTD that we are told in the Old Testament that God’s judgment was postponed several times when the people returned to God and abandoned their evil practices. It was brought on by prayer and repentance. America’s destruction can enjoy the same provided enough people will turn back to Him. Whether that will happen or not remains to be seen. That is my hope and my prayer.
