So today I’m returning home to pack up the few things we intend to keep and get ready to move. We are (hopefully) closing on our home on May 16, so time is a wasting. After that, we are planning to head back to Costa Rica to try and find a good place to reside.
We have many unknowns facing us. First and foremost, we don’t know if we will like living in Costa Rica full-time or not. So, we will test the water. Not to worry if we don’t like it, we will merely find a place that we do like. We sold our house completely furnished so nothing is holding us back.
Many of my friends are worried sick about it. Famous football player and coach John Madden once said, “Don’t worry about the horse being blind, just load the wagon.” Most folks seem to have a need for having every minute of their lives planned out. It is totally unnerving to them not to know exactly what is ahead. Where do they receive their mail? What about all of their keepsakes? Can they find a good church? Will they be able to make friends? – The list is long. I believe that ultimately perhaps, they fear losing control!
As for us, we look forward to having the freedom to do what we want and ask God to be the pilot. Maybe we end up in Montana, or on a farm somewhere, or perhaps Hawaii. I do know that wherever I go God will be with me. So, what could go wrong? If I go down the wrong rabbit hole, I’ll just pop back up and find another one to go down. Seems easy-peasy to me.
I enjoy life, and I think that’s important. Life is so fragile and so fleeting, and it’s over in a minute, and you’ve just got to grab it and do everything and not worry about it. Yes, but what does God want us to do?
Wouldn’t it be nice if the Lord just called a huddle and said, “Okay here is what we are going to do, and then have him lay out our every move?” But He has chosen to give us a mind, soul, and spirit and we are to use them as our avenue to communicate with God through prayer and meditation. Sometimes it is as clear as mud to me. If I cannot hear anything I take that to mean I should go wherever my soul, mind, and spirit leads. I’m well aware of what is taboo with God and avoid it like the plague. I know God will correct my course if I am going in the wrong direction, but unless He makes me miserable, I’m moving forward. I think this is called free will.
So, we have felt the urge to leave our beautiful home in Duck Key and migrate like a bird that innately knows where God wants it to go. How can I get lost if I have nothing set in granite and I’m listening the best I know how to God?
Sound crazy? Well, I have been accused of that more than once; however, I’ve had a ton of fun and adventures galore and lived life to its fullest. When it is time for me to depart this earth, I can say with a straight face that this rolling stone left no stone unturned.
Isn’t it marvelous to trust God with our ENTIRE lives?
Having faith is having trust. You have to trust with your entire being that God has your back that he will help you and take care of you. He always has my back and knows what is best, but to truly embrace what he has planned for you, you must fully trust. Our trust is not foolish, for our God is both faithful and good. I trust in God and His holy word. I believe the Bible when it states He rewards those who seek Him and trust in Him in all circumstance.
Hebrews 11:6
“And without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”
Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
