Some time back I had a conversation with one of my best friends, Al Cuneo, who along with his son George, diligently take my word document posts and recordings for WFTD each morning and design and put them into the proper format and send them out and archive them into a database. Recently Al and I had a conversation as to who, if anyone, would continue writing Words for the Day after Jesus calls me home. We couldn’t think of anyone, and I suggested that we take the archived library of the past WFTD’s and spend some time on our antiquated website to modernize and employ today’s technology to it including a keyword (s) search for topics of interest.

I concluded that it would just be too difficult to aggregate the best of over two decades of posts into a book as many have asked me to do. The last I heard the library contained some 5-6 million words and is approaching 5000 posts . . . ugh! Added to the problem of the years it would take to read all of them to assemble the “so-called” best, I was concerned about what the “best” means.

I went to church Sunday and a friend I haven’t seen for over fifteen years came up to me and told me he still reads WFTD. Then he told me that I had really helped him through a crisis last year when the Lord called his mom home. He had a very tough time dealing with the grief and apparently something I wrote helped him to get through it and he wanted to thank me. He mentioned that he would bet that I received many letters telling me of similar stories. I smiled and told him that a day doesn’t pass that someone doesn’t respond and tell me that a particular post was the exact message they needed to hear that day; sometimes there are many letters.I have always felt that I have been led by the Holy Spirit to write whatever pops into my head each morning to help different people that God wants to help. One post might mean nothing to some readers one morning and yet to others, it means the world to them like my friend from church. I believe God led me to write whatever that post was with the express purpose of helping him and anyone else facing a similar situation. The next day I might write something that is not significant to him but to another. For whatever reason I cannot plan ahead and write WFTD in advance, my mind is a blank as to what to write about if I try. Instead, I simply sit down each morning and write whatever I’m feeling that morning. So, if you read something one morning and it strikes a nerve, I believe with all my heart that is the Holy Spirit reaching out to you and any thanks for His help should go to Him and not in my direction . . .

My intention is to offer the entire body of work free to anyone who wishes to log in. We have begun work on it already and I will announce it when finished.

I am humbled that God gave me this ministry and I do hope it has helped you through the years. It is one little tool, however, and I highly recommend an in-depth Bible study. I am just a fallible human being weak and subject to sins like every other person on earth. The Bible, however, is infallible and is the breath of God pure as the driven snow. He knows our needs and provides all the answers to any questions any of us might have and offers comfort and guidance. No matter if you are prospering greatly or stuck deep in the valley, God will be right there by your side assuming you don’t reject Him. He is praying for you right now my friends.

Romans 8:26
Likewise, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.
