The Catholic Pope recently met with both Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden. Despite the Catholic church’s teaching about abortion being an abomination, the Pope allowed them to keep receiving communion and according to them, the Pope told them they were good Catholics. He has since been slammed by many Catholic priests all over the world because no one is working harder to kill unborn children than these two. They have innocent blood on their hands, and it is an unholy sin of which neither has shown the slightest propensity for repentance. They should not be applauded for it, but that sin should be condemned.

And yet millions of Catholics around the world practically worship the Pope and act as though he is God Himself. I have several Catholic friends and when asked about the Pope’s actions on this matter they simply shrug their shoulders.

The concept of confession of sin to a priest is nowhere taught in Scripture. First, the New Testament does not teach that there are even to be priests in the New Covenant. Instead, the New Testament teaches that all believers are priests. First Peter 2:5 describes believers as a “holy priesthood” and a “royal priesthood.” Revelation 1:6 and 5:10 both describe believers as “a kingdom of priests.”

In the Old Testament, the faithful had to approach God through the priests. The priests were mediators between the people and God. The priests offered sacrifices to God on behalf of the people. That is no longer necessary. Because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we can now approach God’s throne with boldness. The temple veil tearing in two at Jesus’ death was symbolic of the dividing wall between God and humanity being destroyed. We can now approach God directly, ourselves, without the use of a human mediator.

Why? Because Jesus Christ is our great High Priest and the only mediator between us and God. 1 Timothy 2:5 – For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.

The Bible tells us to test Scripture. On the one hand, the Catholic church states unequivocally that abortion and even contraception is wrong, yet Pelosi and Biden get a pass by its leader. And this is because???? I have preached for many years that we should never put our faith in mere men, (myself included), and this is in part what I was talking about.

Maybe mine is not a very popular idea.  I’m not intimidated by that. Today, people want to say, “Well you can believe this, or you can believe that and it doesn’t matter”.  The Lord Jesus never subscribed to such an illogical approach.  He said you can believe the truth, or you can believe the lie, but you can’t believe both.  And it matters greatly that you believe the truth.

The principle is laid down by our Lord Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount and we should remember what He says in Matt. 7:15: “Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. You shall know them by their fruit.” How is it possible that men shall know these false prophets, except they exercise their private judgment of Scripture as to what their fruits are? Children are formed in the womb by God according to Scripture. To murder that innocent unborn child is sin be it via abortion or beating the child to death. Regardless of how it is spun, abortion is a black sin and as a nation, we will and in my opinion are being judged for it.

The concept of confession of sin to a priest is nowhere taught in Scripture. We are to confess our sins to God. As New Covenant believers, we do not need mediators between us and God. We can go to God directly because of Jesus’ sacrifice for us. Remember: “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” The Bible tells us to directly pray to God and directly confess sin to Him. It also states in Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven

Before you good Catholics write your angry letter, I ask you if you believe the Bible is full of lies and half-truths or is the inerrant Word of God Almighty. Meditate upon this verse prior to answering: But small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it. Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves . . .  Benjamin Franklin once said: “Make yourselves sheep and the wolves will eat you.”

Test those who stand before us and explain the Holy Scriptures, no matter how revered they may seem to be or how many people follow them. Read the Bible yourself. Are the priests and pastors whom you rely on speaking the truth or are they twisting it to their standards and logic and leaving God’s Word at the bus station?

Jeremiah 23:16
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you. They are filling you with false hopes. They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.
