I awoke this morning thinking about the Prez coming out with his silly looking “angry face” and giving his “really scary” ultimatum, YOU WILL DO AS I SAY OR ELSE! MY PATIENCE IS WEARING THIN! All it did was make me want to put my fist in his stupid-looking face. Egad, he is so-o-o obnoxious. It almost makes me wish I was never vaccinated so I could tell him to take a flying leap.
Well, I decided to try and simmer down some and since it is far before any sane person would get up in the morning and there is nothing else to do, I decided to read the news. Stupid mistake. All the super-anti-everything libs are clamoring about the heartbeat anti-abortion bill being passed in Texas and upheld by the Supreme Court to become the law of the land. They are insisting that all health decisions should be made without government interference.
WAT? Uhmmm . . . doesn’t that kind of sound like they want it both ways.
I decided just to ditch the news and read my email and I read the following letter with interest:
“Good morning Bob! Early in the pandemic, I ran across this piece about Martin Luther . . .
Back in 1527, a deadly plague hit Martin Luther’s town of Wittenberg and he wrote a letter to a friend (Volume 43, Pg. 132: Whether One Should Flee From A Deadly Plague – To Rev. Dr. John Hess), explaining how churches should deal with such complicated circumstances.”
“I shall ask God mercifully to protect us. Then I shall fumigate, help purify the air, administer medicine and take it. I shall avoid places and persons where my presence is not needed in order not to become contaminated and thus perchance inflict and pollute others and so cause their death as a result of my negligence. If God should wish to take me, he will surely find me and I have done what he has expected of me and so I am not responsible for either my own death or the death of others. If my neighbor needs me however, I shall not avoid place or person but will go freely as stated above. See this is such a God-fearing faith because it is neither brash nor foolhardy and does not tempt God.”
My friend wrote: “I have adopted this stance during this COVID debacle. God does not give us a spirit of fear! I refuse to allow Satan that stronghold in my life.
So many good Christian people have been all caught up in the debate and confusion, even arguing that it is Biblical to refuse the vaccine. I agree with you 🥰 . . . Jesus is returning soon! All these things we see happening, around the world, are the birth pangs. Natural disasters, disease, conflict between countries and families, the impossibility to know what is true – apart from God’s Word!”
Hmmm . . . I found great comfort in reading this email and am thankful that it was sent. I suppose this is no time for petty anger at headline-seeking politicians, but is indeed a time to reflect upon God and human suffering and our actions. God loves us and wants us to love each other.
In these last days of chaos, confusion, and division, where Satan “appears” to be gaining an upper hand, we must remember that the Bible predicts that all of this, and more, must occur. We must trust in God.
Finally, I was trying to see which verse God wanted me to end this post with and one popped into my head. Though the rewarding thought of burning coals being heaped upon Biden’s head and smelling them searing through his hair implants seemed to outweigh the being nice part, I get the point. Be more like Martin Luther and less like Bob Williamson.
Proverbs 22:21
If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. For in so doing, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you.
