So a friend of mine urged me to watch a Prime Video series about the life of Jesus “as told by His closest friends”. Though I appreciated his thinking of me, I was appalled by the series.
Satan always seems to throw enough truth into his lies to make them believable. The series was written in the form of a partial documentary, this I assume to convince us of its validity. The pseudo experts that they used twisted the Bible to generate a message that reflects the Woke culture of today intertwined with accurately portrayed events.
Interestingly they discredited biblical accounts that they didn’t seem to like and wrote them off by saying things such as, The Gospels said so and so, but what it really means is so and so. Let me tell you my friends when you hear people making statements like that you should run for your life! The Bible means what it says. It was totally inspired by the Holy Spirit and is the inerrant Word of God. It says that of itself, and it is the only truth left in the world in which we can put our complete faith in.
I believe that this series was designed to blend in the Woke culture of today. One example is when it departed from the 12 Disciples chosen by Jesus to expand it to include Mary Magdalene, Martha, and others whom they called His Disciples. While all these women followed Christ, loved Him, and believed in Him they were not Disciples chosen by Jesus. They mentioned that some believe that perhaps Jesus was secretly married to Mary Magdalene.
The series is also a treatise of apologetics for the Jews who put Christ to death.
Caiaphas the high priest who had Jesus beaten and insisted upon Christ’s crucifixion was depicted as a benevolent person who was trying to avoid bloodshed, and it was Pilate who was the real villain. They claimed the eyewitness accounts of the Gospels were written long after the crucifixion of Christ and the writers were politically motivated to protect the Romans to gain favor for themselves with them and make the Jews the bad guys in putting Jesus to death.
News flash: The Bible was written over a period of some 1500-2000 years by forty different authors, on three continents with varying cultures, and three different languages, Aramaic, Hebrew, and Greek. God inspired those who wrote it to put down the truth and that is what they did including the Gospels.
Geez how dumb is that? Every Disciple of Jesus was martyred save John who was exiled and imprisoned on Patmos. They had seen Jesus after the resurrection and had no fear when it came to boldly preaching the Gospel and as a testament to this they bravely died terrible horrific deaths without fear.
The series stated that the Jews have been unfairly treated because of it and as a result some people hold them responsible for the death of Jesus when it was actually brutal Pilate. And yet the Bible declares that Pilate stated in Matthew 27:24 So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.” And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”
I hold no animosity towards Jews and love Israel, but the Pharisees had Jesus crucified plain and simple. Had He not been crucified we would not have the promise of salvation and it had to happen. That does not change the fact that Judas betrayed Him, and the Pharisees led by Caiaphas orchestrated it and God has and will deal with them as He sees fit. But make no mistake the Jews are God’s chosen people.
I could go on and on about this series, but you get the drift. It just really gets under my skin when the Bible is twisted to fit agendas and adapted to further the desire for us to abandon it and have some pseudo biblical experts write it off as them knowing more than the original writers of the Bible.
Severe penalties await those who try to rewrite it. The problem as I see it is that not enough people have studied it and read it to know the difference. Correct and sound doctrine is crucial to salvation and growth in spiritual maturity. It comes as no surprise that God warns us many times in Scripture to be aware of false teaching. This is impossible to achieve without a rigorous Bible study program especially in these end times in which we are living. Christians need to be able to recognize false teachers to know when they are being led down a path that God did not intend! The Bible tells us to be prepared and we should be.
2 Tim. 4:3
For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
