August 20 2021 – Click here to listen

I just caught this beautiful Bluefin Tuna in California yesterday. I sent this photo to a couple of friends back home and one told me that at my age I should be fishing for bream. I told him at his age he should just stay in the recliner. He agreed.

Sigh . . . I told him I was making new memories while he relived old memories.  It was all I could do to reel in that monster tuna with my broken down back and torn shoulder, but I did it. And I’m glad I did. I had never caught a bluefin tuna and it was on my bucket list. Guess what? I caught three of them yesterday and am going again today.

I wonder if a bucket list got its name by someone who had a laundry list of things to accomplish prior to kicking the bucket??? I suppose so. I wonder about some of my friends who seem to have just given up on life and have decided to live out their lives in a dark room with gloomy Fox News blaring griping about every piece of clickbait that comes along.

God did not intend for us to waste our glory years. I’m having the time of my life visiting family and old friends. Though I’m not as strong as I once was, I can still enjoy the things I love.  To me that is the key. Continue doing the things you love and forgetting about your age. I look at each day as an adventure waiting to unfold.

I feel closer to God than at any point of my life and am genuinely grateful for the days I have been allowed to live on this earth. This is not to say I am not anticipating paradise with my God and Savior. I suppose the tombstone inscription I found in a Key West cemetery says it best:

 “The Adventure Continues Captain Bob.”

Make the most of your adventure today – Won’t you?

Lamentations 3:22
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
