July 2, 2021 – Click here to listen

It’s a beautiful morning in the Florida Keys today. My son Jon and his family are set to arrive early Saturday morning for a week and then my middle son, Michael’s 15-year-old twin granddaughters will arrive on Wednesday.

After their visit my wife and I are off on a three-month adventure beginning with a drive to Atlanta to spend a couple of weeks with our kids and grandkids, then off to Oregon to go Salmon and sturgeon fishing, crabbing and digging for clams on the beautiful beaches in Oregon with my oldest son and our three grandchildren by him. Then its off to California for some giant bluefin tuna fishing with a friend and ex-employee for a week, and then we head to Alaska for a month for steelhead, salmon, halibut fishing and sightseeing. Then we return to the southland to my middle son’s North Carolina mountain retreat for some trout fishing and spending time with his family. We expect to arrive back in the keys in mid to late October.

I really look forward to this trip. With all the driving it will be a strain on my lower back and my wife’s hip, but this might be the last time we get to make such a trip and what the heck we are going for it. I have zero doubt that during this trip we will enjoy God’s creation to the hilt.

I normally don’t watch any news at all but while monitoring the weather and looking at forecasts and what is going in various places that I’ll be visiting, I have scanned the news. It made me want to puke! I cannot understand for the life of me why so many people are filled with such racial and political hatred and violence towards each other.

God allows us to live in the best country on the planet. We celebrate the Fourth of July in a couple of days and its simply amazing to think about how God miraculously freed us from the tyranny of the British and gave us our freedom and this beautiful land. I can understand how the Jewish nation must have felt about their homeland, a land flowing with milk and honey. It seems we are following them and their disobedience and rejection of God’s laws and we are losing God’s abundant blessings just like they did.

Unfortunately, too many in this country have spurned the idea of “one nation under God” and don’t care for each other anymore and in fact despise each other. God said we are to love each other, but God is not the main attraction in the United States anymore.  Special interests fueled by the lust for money and power are tearing the country apart and if anything, are anti-God, especially the radical Democrats.

I don’t watch the news because I don’t like to even think of such things. I prefer to spend my days worshipping Almighty God and enjoying his creation. I hope to spend nights gazing at the stars and if I’m lucky the Northern Lights in Alaska, the beautiful pacific, the Alaskan frigid waters teeming with tons of fish, whales and sea otters and glorious mountains that rise above the clouds, and rising trout. God has created so much splendor for us to enjoy that we should all be overjoyed, but so many twisted pervert malcontents prefer to wallow in the sewage. Peter made a comment referencing a Proverb that portrays so many in America (and the world) who have been given so much but reject God anyway.

I am so glad that God will not allow sin and lust in heaven, and we can praise and worship our God and marvel at what He has done with no bad vibes. As for me and my family we choose to follow the Lord. I can’t wait to get to heaven.

2 Peter 2:22
“They prove the truth of this proverb: ‘A dog returns to its vomit.’ And another says, ‘A washed pig returns to the mud.'”

Have a great Fourth of July holiday weekend and go to church this Sunday!
