There was a gorgeous sunrise this morning and life is good. I can’t imagine a place I’d rather be than right here in Duck Key. The problems of the world seem far removed from me and I really don’t even know what the crazies are railing about now as I haven’t watched or read any news. My hunch is they are still driving the racism card and WOKE insanity to the brink.
Whatever.
God is good and His creation is there for us to enjoy. It’s up to us to either enjoy it or sit in a corner and sing a version of Poor Little Old Me. As for me I subscribe to Joshua’s mantra, “But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
David said in Psalms 65:4 “Blessed is the man You choose, and cause to approach You. That he may dwell in your courts. We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house.”
I suppose the question for each of us is whether or not satisfaction is obtained through the goodness of God.
Some seem determined to make it on their own. I recently had a conversation with a friend and told them that I’d never seen them any happier than when they were deeply involved with God and His church. Then a drift away from God occurred and like the outgoing tide this person moved offshore away from God and left Him standing at the alter as they went their own way. The blessings soon turned to living a life devoid of joy and peace. I urged them to return home to God.
We, as fallen human beings, are prone at times to backslide but God welcomes us home like the prodigal son when we finally realize that we just cannot make it alone and ask Him to take us back in. His grace to do so is amazing. Most of us would probably slam the door in our face for the things we have done. But He awaits our return and is ready to clothe us in fine robes and prepare a feast to celebrate. The choice is ours. We can live in a pigsty and wallow in the mud, or we can join our Father in His house and bask in His love.
Isn’t it odd that so many prefer the pigsty?
Ephesians 1:7
In Him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.
