Yesterday I had a Covid test. They must have used a 24” cotton swab and rammed it half way through my brain. It stimulated a coughing fit and tears began streaming down my face. I had to get the test before being admitted into the hospital for a colonoscopy on Thursday. Tomorrow will be spent drinking foul liquid and sitting on the pot. The only good news is that barring them finding some type of colon cancer with the procedure, I will not ever have to get another due to my age.
Yesterday my Bible study partner sent me a photo of the Grand Canyon at daybreak. He hiked in using a flashlight in order to get to a popular observation point to observe the sun coming up and it was beautiful.

I told him this morning we should all enjoy being on the peak and basking in the sun while we can. Soon enough we will have to descend back to the dark valley and there will be plenty of time for whining.
So I look forward to today’s fishing trip with great anticipation. Being on the ocean is my peak and if we catch a boatload of fish even better. On Thursday I will undoubtedly whine, at least to my wife who bears the brunt of my sorrows when I’m in the valley.
After yesterday’s post a friend sent me a Hubble photo of a phenomenon in outer space called “The eye of God.”

It looks uncannily like an actual eye watching from outer space and serves as a reminder to me that God is always watching what we do. Our witness is important. It’s easiest to drift away from God when times are good and we are enjoying the peak, and then come rushing to Him when they take a bad turn and we descend into the valley of sorrows. We should be by His side always.
You can determine how you stack up in this regard? By taking a look at your prayer life. How much time is spent asking Him for something, versus thanking Him for something? Or do you pray at all when times are exceedingly good. The Bible tells us:
1 Thess. 5:17
Pray without ceasing. Give thanks in every circumstance, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not extinguish the Spirit . . .
