C.S. Lewis wrote, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen; not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” At first glance I didn’t understand this at all, but upon reading it a couple of times it grew on me. I think his meaning is that the sun is light and because of it we can see. Christ is the light and through Him we can see. Without Christ we only see darkness. Most of the world is blanketed with the darkness of sin and cannot see past it.
The only thing I’ve ever audibly heard from our Lord occurred on a deer stand several years ago. I’d been sitting there for hours and had not even seen so much as a squirrel hopping around much less a trophy buck. I’d begun to pray earnestly to the lord about the Jesus Alliance and other things and suddenly I heard, “The world is ruled by money and not by conviction.” “The world is ruled by money and not by conviction.” “The world is ruled by money and not by conviction.” I heard it three times but no one was in the deer stand but me.
When the spiritual goosebumps quit running up and down my spine, I wondered why the Lord would share that with me. In fact I didn’t have a clue as to why He said it until much later.
As time moved on right up through today, everywhere I look I see evidence of money being the ruler of various people’s hearts and minds and their stated convictions going out the window. I saw politicians who claimed to be staunch pro-lifers fund Planned Parenthood. Celebrities like OJ bought their way out of prison sentences. I saw American jobs go to Communist China so that greedy businessmen could make a few dollars more. I have seen the presumed next President’s son and brother making corrupt deals with Ukraine and Communist China with paths leading to Joe Biden himself being on the take. I see pastors who refuse to preach the Word of God as written and avoid issues like homosexual Scripture and abortion like the plague so as not to offend anyone and lose those giving dollars.
On that subject noted pollster George Barna documented with one of his polls that the overwhelming majority of pastors in his poll indicated that their priorities were: giving, attendance, square footage, number of employees, and number of programs as the most important to the pastors.
Egad! What happened to personal salvations, baptisms, Bibles given away, churches planted, people reached for Christ? When asked if they ever preached about homosexuality, pornography, gay marriage or abortion a tiny minority said they did, but when Barna asked how many times they preached on one of those subjects the previous year only 2% of the pastors stated that they preached a message on it and only once in an entire year. Interestingly a huge majority said they believed Scripture said gay marriage and abortion was wrong. Then why didn’t they follow their convictions and say so and if someone did not agree with the word of God then let them leave?
When pastors quit preaching the gospel from the pulpit, then our country has begun its descent into the darkness and evil and we are in trouble.
Recently I saw our election bought and paid for by billionaires. It is so disgusting. Satan controls this world and he has all the money anyone could want. He is referred to as the “Prince of this world” in the Bible. I don’t believe anyone can outspend him save the Lord and it seems that after the fall of Adam and Eve He ceded the world and all its money over to him. God warns us that the love of money is the root of all evil. Money is not bad; it is the love of it whereby people will forego everything and just abandon any moral compass or convictions they might have to get more and more.
I believe with this election, things will no doubt get much worse. On Sunday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s Democratic majority eliminated “father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister” and all other language deemed insufficiently “gender-inclusive” from House rules. They would be replaced with terms like “parent, child, sibling, parent’s sibling.” Geez, Satan must be having a beer or two and celebrating that one I tell you.
I urge you to stand by your convictions and resist Satan and his minions. With political correctness, peer pressure, corporate mandates, and government regulations moving at warp speed, Christian persecution will become so pervasive I fear you will no doubt feel the urge just to succumb and hide in the closet, or worst case forego the Bible and God’s commandments and join in the race for all of the money in the world being poured into brain washing your kids and grandkids. We must resist and stand strong.
