I noticed that the attacks on Trump’s nomination of Amy Coney Barrett as a replacement justice for Justice Ginsburg are getting viler by the moment. They are attacking her for adopting kids and for being a Christian primarily. Good luck with that. I pray for her to have the courage to stand up to the bullies.

Not long ago I wrote a post dealing with the Bible verse that asks the question, “Why do the heathen rage?” I was reading C.S. Lewis today and he wrote the following piece that made sense to me:

Remember that, as I said, the right direction leads not only to peace but to knowledge. When a man is getting better, he understands more and more clearly the evil that is still left in him. When a man is getting worse, he understands his own badness less and less. A moderately bad man knows he is not very good:
a thoroughly bad man thinks he is all right. This is common sense, really. You understand sleep when you are awake, not while you are sleeping. You can see mistakes in arithmetic when your mind is working properly: while you are making them you cannot see them. You can understand the nature of drunkenness when you are sober, not when you are drunk. Good people know about both good and evil: bad people do not know about either.

I am amazed at the level at which this man was filled with the Holy Spirit, especially when he wrote Mere Christianity where this passage was found.

This latest controversy is not about being an excellent judge, she is supremely qualified for that. No matter how it is spun, the opposition we see is primarily about abortion. Taking the life of an innocent baby that is still in or out of the womb is evil. Those who support abortion don’t see anything wrong with it. I believe they are in a state similar to that described by C.S. Lewis. Their minds are not working properly, and they fail to recognize the badness within them. They are trying to understand being sober while drunk.

Our society has grown cold to the idea that there are serious consequences for sin. People have grown cold, indeed are numb to the idea. I’ve often wondered if all the children who have been slain through the centuries by various civilizations such as those that worshipped Satan via false gods and idols that demanded a sacrifice of children such as Molech, Aztec and Mayan empires, genocidal maniacs, and today’s unrepentant abortionists sit under the throne of God pleading with God to avenge them along with martyrs.

God cannot condone the slaughter of babies because he is good. Think about where you fit in concerning this moral question . . . Good people know about both good and evil: bad people do not know about either. Anyone who has read the Bible knows that Jesus wants our children protected from those who would do them harm.

Matthew 18:5

And whoever welcomes a little child like this in My name welcomes Me. But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. Woe to the world for the causes of sin. These stumbling blocks must come, but woe to the man through whom they come!
