I was thinking about all of those people who are not gun owners this morning. I cannot imagine not having a gun for protection in these days. Just this morning I read of a guy being smashed in the back of the head with a brick because he happened to be white. The assailant actually posted the attack on Twitter and bragged about it. The injured guy was walking down the street in a residential area and the assailant came sneaking up behind him like a lowdown coward and hit him as hard as he could in the back of the head with a brick. Diners are being harassed in restaurants, business owners are being threatened, innocent people are being murdered and so on; even cops are being ambushed and murdered. It’s crazy.
I was told by a concerned friend that if I shot someone in self-defense, they would likely arrest me. I looked at him and asked if being dead would be preferable? As for me I’ll take my chances.
When I was a kid my family moved constantly. I went to 19 different schools including 3 different high schools. Invariably I would encounter bullies, most of the time on my very first day of school. Usually they had other kids with them, and it was me against 3 or 4 of them. I was crazy enough to take on any and all comers and would not submit to them. Sometimes I would end up losing those battles, but they knew I’d been there. When they discovered I would not take it, they sought easier prey from that day on.
The same was true when I was incarcerated. Make no mistake they will test you to see if you will fight back in prison or jail. If you don’t and you aren’t in a gang, or don’t have money to pay for protection, you will not be safe, and chances are that you will be forced to go get someone their coffee wearing pink hot pants every morning.
These lessons taught me that there are times when conflict is inevitable. I don’t want trouble and I’m not out to look for trouble but I’m not going to idly stand by if bodily harm to myself, family, or others is threatened. I would rather go down fighting and hopefully take some of them with me.
A free society cannot remain free if the populace is comprised of cowards. I don’t want anyone to tell me I can’t go to church, or say something that the bullies dislike, or be able to go where I want when I want, work where I want, and so on. I cannot live by communist or socialist rule. I love my freedom too much.
We have a constitutional and I believe a God-given right to defend ourselves and families. Get some good training, practice, and arm yourself. Don’t live in fear. The result of the upcoming election is sure to increase strife in this country no matter who wins. Be prepared. Pray to God you don’t have to use your weapon to defend yourself but know that if you are confronted you don’t have to stand there and get murdered, robbed, raped, or beat up.
