This weekend proved to be a bloody one. Chicago recorded at least 11 killed and 67 wounded during an outbreak of violence. The deaths included a 3-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl. The 3-year old was with his stepfather at about 6:30 p.m. on Saturday when he was struck in the back. The teenage girl was home Saturday night when she was struck in the neck from the shot fired from outside. Chicago reported that eight of those shot were children and teens, four of them died.

There were killings in Seattle, Minneapolis, and of course NYC which reported an average of one shooting per hour on Saturday and cited a police chief who told the newspaper that defendants arrested for gun possession have been allowed to skip jail during the coronavirus pandemic. The New York Post reported that 24 people were shot citywide on Saturday alone.

This comes as the liberal wing of the Democrat Party has called for cities to either dramatically defund or break up police departments outright.

I watched a fascinating discussion between a black man and a white man. I urge you to watch it as it clearly defines the problem that we face. The white man who was a liberal seemed out of his league when confronted with the facts that the black man rattles off from the top of his head like a machine gun. To understand today’s post relies on you watching this video. Please do so.

Racism exists in this country and it is a sin whether it comes from a white cop or a black man sucker punching an elderly white woman. It is wrong and God hates it. Fortunately it is not as widespread as the media presents and as this discussion clearly revealed racism is not the root of the problem but fatherless homes.

We break the laws of God and the result is bad. We need father’s to stay home and raise their kids to be godly people. Children should be taught to work, respect authority, attend church and study Scripture daily. That is what will cure the country of this plague which pollutes it and has since its beginning.

Being a father should not be taken lightly. A father’s role in the family is a pivotal one.  He is called upon to be a leader and protector for the family, and to give an example of Christ’s love by being loving towards the children’s mother. He is also to be strong in the faith, and to bring the children up knowing right from wrong. He is to love his children and encourage them to be all they can be.

1 Timothy 3:2

Now the husband is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money.  He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full respect.  (Emphasis mine)
