I was watching a Crocodile Dundee movie and it reminded me of the dilemma many of us face. When the character Dundee was far out in the bush of Australia and sitting around a campfire one night with his client, she asked his opinion of matters of great import in the world. She seemed aghast that he didn’t seem the least bit interested and didn’t have an opinion.

He replied, “Who is going to hear it down here?”

As we are being ravaged by the chaotic storms of life that are ripping through our country like a merciless hurricane, I too wonder what the solution might be and how I can be a part of it, after all I’m just one person and who is going to hear me?

Our country is facing serious problems. We didn’t even get through battling Covid19 and the annihilation of our economy, and now the riots associated with the murder of George Thomas are in full swing. Next will be the most divisive, polarized, election our country has ever known

What can be done?

The answer is in our hearts. First Christians must understand that we are in this together regardless of skin color, socio-economic factors, language, or whatever. In Revelation 7:9 the Apostle John got to see a portion of heaven. After this I saw a vast crowd, too great to count, from every nation and tribe and people and language, standing in front of the throne and before the Lamb. They were clothed in white robes and held palm branches in their hands.

We will be one people forever. No divisions will exist. We will be woven together as a beautiful tapestry of love by our Savior. Jesus does not want us to wait for that heavenly reunion for Christian unity. He wants us to start now. He said to pray in this manner: . . . Your kingdom come, Your will be done in earth, as it is in heaven . . . It is God’s will that we be as one body on earth as it is in heaven.

Many are asking themselves and others, What can I do? King David wrote a deep prayer, the 86th Psalm, during a day of great trouble. He asked God to hear and answer his cry for help. He had complete trust that God would respond to his need because of His unfailing love. David’s troubles weren’t easy, light, or few and in fact his very life was in danger on many occasions. And yet he prayed and prayed and prayed some more. Most importantly this veteran battle scarred veteran had faith that God heard his prayers and could and would answer them and that without God the battle would be lost before it began.

We need to pray today for unity and love in our nation, for a revival, and for God to heal our land. The Bible describes our opponent Satan as a roaring lion stalking the world looking for those whom he might devour. We should not fear him because the Lion of Judah can and will cage him up in the depths of hell. Call on Him today and have faith that He will deliver us just as He did Israel.

I believe prayer is the key that unlocks the door to solving our nation’s problems. Our nation has a spiritual problem that will not be resolved by secular methodology including the National Guard, vaccines, or those in government who think they are wise. It is our nation’s heart that needs mending. God is the spiritual cardiologist and we should pray for our people that they might gain understanding of spiritual matters.

Psalm 86:1

Bend down, O Lord, and hear my prayer; answer me, for I need your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to you. Save me, for I serve you and trust you.
    You are my God.
Be merciful to me, O Lord,
for I am calling on you constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord,
for I give myself to you.
O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.
Listen closely to my prayer, O Lord;
    hear my urgent cry.
I will call to you whenever I’m in trouble,
    and you will answer me.
