A couple of years back I got a call from a longtime friend who had done extensive surveying work for me through the years. He frantically told me his handicapped son was in intensive care. The child was initially sick with an infection but unbeknownst to the parents had also experienced several seizures. He ended up in a deep coma, barely hanging on to life.
This child had been completely handicapped and bedridden since birth as had his sister who had the same neurological disease. It is a wicked, devastating disease that left both children completely helpless to the point of being totally dependent upon their parents. As with many parents of special-needs-children, my friend and his wife developed a deep abiding love for them and in fact dedicated their entire lives to them.
Quite naturally my friend was near inconsolable when his son entered the hospital. He told me that the news from the doctors was grim and he had been told that, short of a miracle, his son would never regain consciousness. I told him, “Well we need to pray for a miracle then.” This event brought back memories of long ago when doctors told him his son would likely never live past the age of five; however God’s plan was far different and both children were still alive some thirty years later which was stunning to the doctors.
He told me that many people were praying, and he was hopeful that God was going to see them through this crisis too. I prayed with him on the phone for some length of time and later that night I prayed again. The next morning I asked our Jesus Alliance prayer intercessory group to pray for this family and continued personally praying off and on throughout the day and all of the way until I went to be bed and fell asleep.
That night I had a dream in which I saw four angels standing around the child’s bed in intensive care that seemed to be caring for the child and working on him. The room was dim, but the angels who were clad entirely in white, but with a soft golden hue brought warmth to it. Their appearance was similar to paintings I’ve seen of angels. They had rather large white wings and I could feel the peace they brought to the room. The next morning bright and early I received a text from my friend and his son had awakened for the first time in 12 days. His miracle was granted!
Hallelujah!
I am convinced that God gave me a peek at what actually transpired in that room that night. I’d never seen angels in dreams or visions but make no mistake I saw them nurturing that little boy back to consciousness.
Wow!
If you don’t believe in miracles you must find it difficult to believe in God. Jesus performed them on a daily basis. My friend loves the Lord with all of his heart and has a deep abiding faith that is unshakable. His friends at church and elsewhere are similarly resolute followers of Jesus. His little boy eventually recovered from his illness, and my friend took him back home to his familiar surroundings.
I have the utmost respect for my buddy and his wife. He is a man of slight stature and yet manages to pick his helpless grown children up and put them in a bathtub to bathe them, feed them, and he even bought an RV and every spare minute they have is devoted to bringing joy to these children by traveling around them in his RV.
I’ve seen prayer work over and over again. Please take advantage of this gift to directly petition God when in need. Our prayers are encouraged by an all-powerful God whose love for us knows no bounds. Since I’ve known him my friend has never been bitter about having handicapped kids, and instead considers them a special blessing. Love like that can only come from God.
BELIEVE in Him. Believe in prayer . . . Believe that a day will come when all suffering will cease.
Rev. 21:4
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
