The Bible indicates that Satan never rests. He commands his vast demonic army to go all over the world creating discord, bitterness, and hate. One of the headlines this morning was that Nancy Pelosi has opened yet another investigation. She has an insatiable appetite for creating discord fed by her hatred for President Trump. What a time to be playing politics; it makes me want to gag. She seems to never learn or perhaps she is learning from a demon inside her.
In a world that is covered in panic, bedlam, and fear, she and people like her still seem intent to divide the country along partisan lines and ideology. She is not alone, consider gay CNN commentator Don Lemon’s proclamation of disgust for Mike Pence’s devout ways and determination to pray during this national emergency. The CNN host was appalled at the horrifying idea that Pence would actually pray over the pandemic. “Is that the person you want in charge of the coronavirus outbreak? Someone who needs to pray on something instead of looking at science. Come on. Let’s be real about it. Let’s be honest about it. Is that the person you want in charge?”
Let me answer that, YES that is exactly the type person we need as one of the leaders who is fighting against this terrible virus. And his statement that he is praying and not using science is simply a flat out lie. He and others in the media are trying to turn believers against non-believers and vice versa. How can we fight it? Prayer is a powerful uniter, and those who pray know that in addition to all of the non-spiritual efforts, (science,) almighty God is the answer needed the most.
Most people understand this. This week, a nurse posted a photo of her and her colleagues in their blue scrubs and surgical masks as they stood atop the helipad of their hospital in Nashville, Tenn. They were praying. Part of her caption read, “We could feel God’s presence in the wind. Know that you are all covered in prayer.”
Prayer is all-powerful. Mother Teresa once said: “God shapes the world by prayer. “The more praying there is in the world the better the world will be, the mightier the forces against evil.” I’ve seen it work time after time in my own life, and I’m sure plenty of you have as well. It has become fashionable to mock those who pray as being weak. Most of those cowards that write that hide behind their computer screens and type out their daily lies and hate-filled propaganda and if the truth were known are about as tough as a wet paper bag.
People who pray know that almighty God sits on the throne. During times of crisis all but the most bitter and venomous turn to him especially when death comes knocking on their doors. I unashamedly pray numerous times a day and if I’m in a restaurant I ask God to bless the food before I eat just like I do at home. I pray for almost everything imaginable including the people who read this column daily. Martin Luther once said, “To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing.”
God gave us His word and assures us that He not only hears us He will give us peace. Take advantage of it and while you are at it pray for President Trump, VP Mike Pence, their team of experts and those who are actually doing something and are working around the clock to find solutions for this pandemic.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
