So, the other day we were out in the Atlantic fishing and a small canary lit on the side of my boat. I assume it was weary from the long trip that these tiny birds make as they fly back and forth to the Bahamas. I’ve seen them for many years out in the middle of the ocean and marveled that such a tiny delicate bird could travel across vast oceans. This little bird hopped over to me and jumped up on my arm and turned its head sideways and looked at me as I looked at him. He sat on my arm and rested for quite a while and then took to flight again heading to wherever it had been directed by God.

When we returned to port a manatee family came to watch us clean my boat. I knew they wanted a cool drink of fresh water and laughed as they floated on their backs enjoying the spray from the water-hose that I had positioned to spray over them.

I leaned over the side of the boat and the gentle creatures came over to me and I scratched their heads, (and would still be doing so if it was up to the manatees. They didn’t want me to stop.)

These two encounters with God’s creatures made my day. I imagine heaven to be similar. Wildlife abounded in the Garden of Eden and will in heaven. The Bible states in Isaiah 11:6 – The wolf shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf together; and a little child shall lead them. The infant will play by the cobra’s den, and the toddler will reach into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all My holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the sea is full of water.

And again in Isaiah 65:25 – “The wolf and the lamb shall graze together; the lion shall eat straw like the ox, and dust shall be the serpent’s food. They shall not hurt or destroy in all my holy mountain,” says the LORD.

There will finally be peace between all creatures including us. I don’t know about you but I’m ready when You are Lord!

Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
