A few weeks ago a man who I did not know contacted me out of the blue and asked if I would meet with a friend of his about some software that the man’s friend had developed to detect sex traffickers. I delayed our meeting considerably due to the holidays and deaths of beloved friends and just being overwhelmed with Jesus Alliance projects. I’d met a woman that leads an anti-sex trafficking organization at a Christian event in a neighboring city and gave her a call and asked if she would like to meet with us too. She accepted and the four of us met at a local restaurant that one of them owned to discuss the software.
I barely knew her and didn’t recognize either of the men. When discussions began all three told me that they had heard me give my testimony and one had read my book cover to cover. I remarked that it really was a small world. My wife just returned from out of town where she attended a wedding, and I told her about it. She looked at me kind of weird and expressed that several people she met at the wedding told her the identical thing and one couple had even heard me speak at my friend TK’s funeral. One lady had not only read my book but had shared it with all of her family and friends.
It seems that lately I’m meeting people all of the time with similar comments. I even got on a plane not long ago and a complete stranger stopped me in the aisle as I headed towards my seat and held up a book he was reading. It was my book, Miracle on Luckie Street. It kind of spooked me out.
This morning I was doing my daily read through Proverbs. Today is the ninth and chapter nine was the chapter for the day. He reads it and emails me to offer his slant on what God is specifically speaking to him about in each day’s chapter and I do likewise.
I began my piece by quoting the verse that God brought to my attention: “For the reverence and fear of God are basic to all wisdom. Knowing God results in every other kind of understanding.”
Then as commentary I wrote: “So says the wisest and most successful man who ever lived. Interesting that the previous verses point towards TEACHING others wisdom. It is my contention based on this and many other biblical considerations that we are not just encouraged but obligated and commanded to share the Word of God with others. Many believe that someone’s belief system is a private matter between them and God. I am not of that persuasion.”
We should all take the wisdom we receive from God and His Word and try to share it with others. I’m amazed that complete strangers are being impacted, because so often I never hear from anyone about it. I barely remember the events where the folks at my meeting saw me speak, but to a person they said they were deeply and positively affected and would never forget. Yikes!
Wouldn’t it be wonderful to get to heaven and meet person after person with similar comments? One never knows what a difference they can make in another’s life – If only they would be willing to do so . . . If you are timid about sharing your testimony, inviting someone to church, or giving God the credit for your successes, remember God is with you every step of the way.
Deuteronomy 31:8
The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
