It is truly amazing to consider some of the news being presented. Indonesia just had a major earthquake and then a tsunami. If that wasn’t enough overnight a volcano erupted on the same island. Thousands have lost their lives, property has been destroyed, and it is a humanitarian disaster of major proportion and yet it has been buried amongst the hundreds of thousands of words devoted to the Judge Kavanaugh farce. If this had happened in here practically every reporter in the United States would be covering it and griping about how long it was taking to get help to those who suffer. We need to pray for them.
I scour the news most every morning visiting many different top news sites. One article today posted in the Daily Wire included an op-ed that espoused the views of a liberal professor who wants “activists” to be recognized as “veterans” and receive discounts at major retailers. The article began, “Dr. Warren J. Blumenfeld, a professor from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, started off his piece claiming that he observed a man receiving a 10% discount at the vet for being a military veteran. “I thought that this was not only appropriate, but the defenders of this country’s security should be given an even greater discount,” he wrote.
Hmmm . . . I would be in favor of that, but then the article continued.
“Blumenfeld claims he has ‘long thought” about’ whom our country includes in its socially constructed category of ‘veteran,'” and asks: “Can we as a nation begin now to consider expanding the category of ‘veteran’ to include the diplomats and the mediators, those working in the conflict resolution, and activists dedicated to preventing wars and to bringing existing wars to diplomatic resolution once they have begun?”
“Individuals who stand up and put their lives on the line to defend our country from threats to our national security, as those in our nation’s military do, are true patriots and veterans,” Blumenfeld continues. “But true patriots and veterans are also those who speak out, stand up, and put their lives on the line by actively advocating for justice, freedom, and liberty through peaceful means.”

In an interview on “Fox & Friends” on Monday, Joey Jones, a retired Marine Corps bomb technician who lost both of his legs while serving in Afghanistan, called Blumenfeld’s op-ed “pretty laughable.” “Listen if you need a title, a pat on the back for your hard work that you chose to do, by all means, take it and run with it,” Jones said. “I don’t need the discount at Starbucks. I don’t need the discount at Walmart.” “These men and women – these GI Joes, GI Janes – they are regular people,” Jones added. “They didn’t go to private school, they didn’t get their feelings hurt at the unfairness of things, they chose to serve their country, and they chose to do something that truly transcends these tit for tat politics that we play here in this country. To say this term applies to everyone who might get upset and hold up a sign somewhere, that doesn’t make any sense at all,” Jones concluded.
Well said Joey! There is a lot of nonsense in the media today. It seems every village idiot has a worldwide platform from which to perform. Just imagine all the true patriots out there, those brave men and women who have gone through so much to preserve this guy’s right to freely express his idiocy. Marine Joey Jones called it “pretty laughable.” I suppose that is the best way to look at it, but when I see those players taking a knee or those people burning a flag, or rioting in our streets and think about this college professor wanting to give them a discount for their antics is no laughing matter
Oh brother . . . Well at least a Bible verse got into a photo included in the article. Check out the soldier’s helmet in the photo . . .
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you to be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
