My good friend noted researcher George Barna came out with yet another survey that yields some startling revelations. Check it out:

George Barna, noted that at least 15% and as much as 40% of adults do not consider behaviors such as divorce, abortion, and unmarried sexual intercourse to be moral issues. In other words, there are no cultural or religious boundaries that dictate whether such behaviors are appropriate or inappropriate; those behaviors are simply a reflection of individual preferences. For the eight measures examined in the research, an average of one-quarter of all adults (25%) said those behaviors are not moral issues. One-third or more of the public considers divorce, birth control, and having a baby outside of marriage to be amoral decisions.

The survey revealed that born-again Christians – identified as those who claim to be Christian and who believe that after they die they will spend eternity with God in Heaven only because they have confessed their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their savior – were distinct on most of the measures from the segment that is not born again.

Hmmm . . . They may be distinct, but this survey sure caught me by surprise. Who would have thought that 11% of born again Christians see nothing wrong with polygamy?

Other interesting results were:

  • “Millennials emerged as the generation most likely to accept intentionally viewing pornography (66%) and intimidating or aggressively dominating someone (32%). They were the least likely adults to accept using a birth control mechanism, although four out of five felt such pills or devices are acceptable.
  • Baby Busters (a/k/a Gen X) joined Millennials in being among the most likely to accept polygamy (more than one-third of each segment embraced having multiple marital partners) and were nearly as comfortable as Millennials with accepting pornography.
  • Baby Boomers and their predecessors (sometimes labeled Elders) were the generations least accepting of intentional viewing of pornography.
  • The Elders (adults age 75 or older) were the most likely to accept birth control (91%) and divorce (84%). They were the least likely to accept having a child outside of marriage (59%), aggressively intimidating or dominating someone (14%), and polygamy (13%).
  • There were no significant differences across generations related to their acceptance of abortion and sexual intercourse between unmarried adults.”

So, it looks as though the Bible and God’s laws are being rejected by a society that wants no boundaries concerning sex. Sexual morality as defined by the Bible it seems is considered antiquated thinking and society has decided it doesn’t need God’s “old fashioned” laws and will make its own rules in our modern age.

History repeats itself and America is not the first nation that chose to reject God’s laws. It began in the Garden of Eden, then the days of Noah, Sodom, and on and on right up through today. The results have been catastrophic and yet we don’t seem to learn from history.

Today I read of archaeologists who found a site where 500 children ages 5 to 13 were sacrificed along with several hundred llamas in Peru in one day. Evidence suggests that their hearts were cut out. That society accepted human sacrifice. Will ours? Are pedophilia and bestiality next? Believe it or not there are several groups trying to make pedophilia acceptable as a norm, calling it a “man-boy attraction” in order to eventually legalize the rape of children.

Ugh! If the thought of humanity’s decline sickens you, just think how it must make Jesus feel.

How bad will the world have to get before God says “Enough” and Christ comes again and brings it all to an end?

A more important question you might want to ask yourself is this: Are you ready to meet Christ face to face – either when He returns or when you die? It is not too late today to turn to Him in repentance and faith, and then commit your life to Him by following the righteous commands He has given us in His Bible.

Has this happened in your life?

Rev. 22:12

Let the unrighteous continue to be unrighteous, and the vile continue to be vile; let the righteous continue to practice righteousness, and the holy continue to be holy.” “Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to each person according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
