I encourage you to refrain from allowing the media to ruin your Thanksgiving. It is a special time to celebrate all the good things the Lord has given us and be with family, and friends and indulge in some good food.

The media of course wants to feed us a daily dose of negativity. To them nothing is right, and everything is wrong and of course we live in the worst country in the world. As for me I opt to tune them out and focus on being fed some Turkey and dressing with all the trimmings. This holiday began on Sunday for me and I’ve enjoyed seeing grandchildren running around yelling and playing accompanied by their pet dogs barking in unison. When I’ve desired calm I’ve slipped away for a whitetail hunt in a more serene setting and I’ve already harvested a nice Thanksgiving whitetail buck and have enjoyed my time in the woods sitting on stands and watching the sun come up and go down.

I have not been focusing on the sexcapades, corruption, power struggles, dirty politics, name-calling, and thirst for more money and my mind and spirit are filled with peace and calm.

The peace of Christ Jesus will keep our hearts and minds through the trials of this world; it will keep us from sinning, and from sinking under them; keep us calm and with inward satisfaction. We must do our part through prayer but also by keeping our mind focused on the right things. The media does not help in this process, so just turn them off for a few days anyway.

Phil. 4:7

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think on these things . . .
