The older I get, the less I worry about things. Lately I have dealt with several people who act like their issues are equivalent to the end of the world. I have never been known for patience; however, I have been advising people lately to calm down and just be patient. (Imagine that.) Many of the problems that we face will be entirely forgotten literally a few days, weeks, or months from now. Why should we get all worked up over a situation when it will drop off of our “radar screen” entirely in a few days anyway? We should make a conscious effort to keep things in perspective and context.

The Bible of course tells Christians not to worry. Jesus Himself spoke about it many times. Worry does no good and can harm our physical and mental health. Whatever our situation, we can be assured that the sun will rise tomorrow and will set later that day. God’s plan for Christian lives is systematically working itself out and will culminate on the precise day that He ordains, when He calls us home. (Exception: If you have not accepted Christ, you should be very worried about judgment day and make plans immediately to accept Christ.)

There used to be an ad by Greyhound bus lines that instructed us to relax and “leave the driving to us”. All Christians should just relax and leaving the driving to Jesus Christ. He loves us, He instructs us to cast our cares upon Him and He will take care of our every need. Yes we will still have some problems now and then, but they will all be resolved and we will entirely forget about them sooner rather than later. Just go with the flow and keep on smiling!

1 Peter 5:6
Therefore humble yourselves
under the mighty hand of God,
that He
may exalt you in due time,
casting all your cares upon Him
for He cares for you.

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
