Television has sunk to a new low with Stephen Colbert’s profanity laced tirade against Trump. The liberal media, in this case CBS, has not fired or reprimanded Colbert, and he has refused to apologize for his profanity laced rant complete with homophobic vulgarity aimed at Trump and last night showed no remorse and even said he would do it again.

Predictably many Hollywood celebs have supported him, and I suppose millions still watch this slime ball. Despite a firestorm on social media and threats of boycotts no advertisers have dropped his show and no one has begun a boycott. This was not the case with (formerly conservative) cable network Fox News amidst allegations of misconduct by popular host Bill O’Reilly.

Ugh . . . It’s a sign of the times I suppose. Who could have imagined that such language could be used with impunity on one of the three mainstream networks?

I spoke in St. Louis on Monday morning at their Legislative Prayer Breakfast and I asked for a show of hands of those who had lost hope in that room. Not a single hand went up, which I know had to be disingenuous, because polls indicate 82% of the world’s population have lost hope on something. It’s hard to maintain hope when you see something like mainstream television programming being ruled by the prince of darkness. When will it stop? How can it be stopped? Who will do it?

The answer can be found in two places in the Bible beginning in Genesis. The descendants of Noah were living in the area of Mesopotamia in Babylon. They settled in a land named Shinar. The population was growing and they all spoke one language. The people decided to build a tall, proud symbol of how great they had made their nation. The Babylonians wanted a tower that would “reach to the heavens” so that they could be like God and that they would not need Him. They began to construct a great ziggurat.

Understandably God did not like the pride and arrogance in the hearts of the people and He caused the people to suddenly speak different languages so they could not communicate and work together to build the tower. This caused the people to scatter across the land. The tower was named The Tower of Babel because the word Babel means confusion.

God said in Genesis 11:1 “Look!” he said. “The people are united, and they all speak the same language. After this, nothing they set out to do will be impossible for them!

God will deal harshly with those who arrogantly feel they don’t need Him. He is patient, but His patience does run out, as has been demonstrated many times throughout biblical history.

As for those of us who love Him, go forward a couple of thousand years and hear the prayer of Jesus for us as recorded in John 17:21 – I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one – as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. Though unsaid the implication of this unification prayer is: and nothing will be impossible for them!

Take heart my friends Jesus is the definition of hope and, He remains eternal, and hope remains eternal. He is in the “everything is possible” business. If our hearts are intent upon evil, and we display an arrogance towards God and decry that we don’t need Him, then like the descendants of Noah we will not achieve victory. If our hearts are aimed towards pleasing God then victory is assured.

Today the cold hard facts are that the forces of evil are united and those who follow Jesus are divided. We, the Jesus Alliance, are trying hard to unite believers all over the world, but face serious obstacles in finance which is needed to pay for effective methods of communication on a large scale. However, we have a mighty God that we serve and we can pray to Him anytime we choose. The Bible states that He hears our prayers and will answer them. Please pray for the unification of Christians worldwide and that we can enter this spiritual battle with a mighty force and defeat darkness by introducing Jesus so that many will believe in Him.

Psalm 55:22

Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.
