So, I’m sitting at the airport awaiting my plane writing Words for the Day. It seems that I should just have asked my great friend Al Cuneo to repost an old one, but I cannot. I got up at 1:38 this morning and worked for a while and then got ready and drove to the airport in Tampa. As I was driving I thought about all those folks who’ve lost hope.

According to a poll 82% of the people worldwide have lost hope. For some it’s a wayward daughter or son, maybe a bad medical test, the never-ending middle east conflict, finding a job, paying off debt, murder and violence, those guys in Washington D.C. (where I’m heading) doing the right thing, you name it.

Yesterday I watched a video of a man who had a near death experience. He wasn’t a rock-solid believer prior to it, but he is now. He said Jesus talked to him and it was wonderful. He no longer fears death and the things that used to worry him don’t matter much anymore. He said God asked him if he had any questions that he wanted to ask Him and after thinking about it he asked what was the meaning of life. God laughed and told him he would explain it when he came back to stay with him forever and they had more time.

He told a friend about his experience and he remarked that question was easy, the answer was love. The meaning of life is love.

The man could not control his emotion and cried as he told of getting ready to return to his body on the operating table and God hugged him goodbye. He said he was so filled with love that it was indescribable.

Hmmm . . . Wouldn’t you love to be hugged by God today?

You can be.

As I drove along I thought of being homeless and living on the dark mean streets of heartless cities filled with despair, pain, and loneliness. I remember when I’d lost all hope and was ready to eat a bullet and commit suicide. I would have loved to have had a hug from God. Little did I know that He was waiting to do just that and that I would find Jesus Christ and things would change for me forever.

Funny God knew me then. He also knew that I would come to Him, and that when I did He would bless me. He saw me not as I was, but as I would be when I was filled with His Holy Spirit.

He hasn’t changed one iota and all those things that used to bother me, are insignificant today. God will change those things bothering us all in time. I hope you will put your complete faith and trust in Christ and just calm down – BREATHE!

God is like a cool breeze on a hot summer day. Enjoy Him. He loves you so much you cannot even imagine. He will save you; He will comfort you; He will hug you. Allow Him to take over your life today just watch as your troubles melt away.

Phil. 4:6

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – ithink on these things . . .
