I was heartened by the reaction to Donald Trump’s excellent address to Congress last night. With few exceptions, the press gave an honest account of the rousing speech and it buoyed the spirits of most anyone watching.

He clearly reached out to Democrats and asked them to join him in repairing the many difficult problems our country is facing ranging from the economy, defense, infrastructure, and social problems.

The only negative of the evening was the hissing, booing, and groans of fervid Democrats. They didn’t stand and applaud much and stood out because Democrat women were dressed in white. From what I garnered this was intended to be an effort to support women’s suffrage rights by dressing in white a symbol of purity. They insist that Trump wants to take away women’s rights, which really means they want to kill unborn children in the womb. Dressing in white for that is an oxymoron and macabre.

People are people and one thing is guaranteed, no President can make everyone happy all the time. The important thing is that Trump was conciliatory and reached out to all sides and asked them to put aside their personal grievances and disagreements and work together for the good of America. At one point, he said we all had the same blood. We are all Americans.

As I mused about this today I began to pray for unity in our country and in the church. I long for the day when believers everywhere will become united. Believers in Christ are His church, Jesus Christ is our leader, and He has prayed for us to be as one.

John 17:21 – . . . that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me . . .

Will Democrats work with the President and try to build America into greatness?

Will the church put aside their disagreements and work together?

If unity does occur, great things will be accomplished. I urge you to put aside petty disagreements. Do as the Jesus Alliance has done and adopt the Bill Bright slogan, “If you love Jesus I can work with you.” Don’t sit on the sidelines hissing, booing, and groaning.

Folks the glass is half full, not half empty. Be optimistic; go to the light of Jesus and bask in His warmth of peace, joy, and love. Boo-birds and naysayers accomplish nothing for the Lord and unwillingly work for the master of divisiveness – Lucifer. The Bible teaches that he loves to divide and those who are dedicated to divisiveness are nothing more and nothing less than Luciferian boo-birds!

Eph. 4:12

And it was He who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for works of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God, as we mature to the full measure of the stature of Christ . . .
