I read this morning where a moving van was spotted at the White House signaling the departure of President Obama.

It can’t come soon enough for me. Prior to leaving he is wrapping up a few things such as awarding himself the Distinguished Public Service award.

obama-awardSecretary Carter awarded his boss with the medal on January 4 during the Armed Forces Full Honor Farewell Review for the President held in Virginia. Apparently, the Nobel Peace Prize he received right after taking office was not enough for him, so he awarded himself the medal. LOL

You just can’t make it up.

One definition of narcissism is defined as extreme selfishness, with a grandiose view of one’s own talents and a craving for admiration, as characterizing a personality type. You can judge for yourself if the soon to be ex-prez fits that definition. And I suppose we should all take a look at ourselves and see how we stack up . . .

I do know that Jesus Christ was just the opposite. Though He deserved to be exalted on the highest throne adorned in the finest gold, jewels, silk, and dazzling splendor with servants waiting on Him hand and foot, He was born in a manger. He worked as a carpenter and His harshest words were for those who tried to abuse the downtrodden, calling them hypocrites and a pit of vipers. He preached that those who are first in this life will be last in His kingdom. The King, the Magnificent, Almighty God of all creation did not give Himself awards, though He deserves every distinguished service award ever conceived since the dawn of time. He is our example.

Being humble is a trait that should be sought by all of us. Humility is what Jesus taught and we should all work hard to achieve it in this New Year.

Let’s save the awards for those who really deserve them such as the man in this video saving a guy from death who was dangling from a ski lift by his neck. He witnessed the person on the lift in front of him try to exit but somehow got his backpack hung up in it which left him dangling by his neck rendering him unconscious. This hero immediately climbed out of his lift to the cable above and shimmied over to where the man was and cut him free saving his life. http://dpo.st/2j8wl5R

I wonder which politician will try to take credit for that?

Have a great weekend and go to Honey Lake Church or somewhere this Sunday.

Proverbs 18:12

Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.
