I don’t know what it is about politics, but it just seems to bring out the worst in people. Last night Ted Cruz was appropriately booed off the stage and heckled for failing to endorse Donald Trump. I assume that people who supported him realize that he signed a pledge promising to support the eventual nominee, but simply lied about it. Trump nick-named him “Lying Ted” and it seems that he is living up to it.
Of course Cruz is not alone, Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio (both of whom I know and used to respect) also went back on their word, as did Governor John Kasich. On the other side Hillary and President Obama are both proven liars and there are so many others in politics that it is just sickening.
How can anyone respect a liar? Even if they finally do tell the truth about something, one always has a question in the back of their mind, “Is he or she telling the truth this time?”
The media is just as bad or worse and routinely slant their purported “news coverage” to reflect their personal agendas.
Gosh it is no wonder that so many people are totally disgusted with it all. I say disgusted or not that we need to participate and do our part to try and elect the best leaders that we can. The Bible instructs us to do so.
I intend to vote for Trump as the only real choice in the presidential election. I can only imagine who Hillary might nominate to the Supreme Court; (3-5 Justices could be appointed in the next few years and that will determine the future of this country more than anything that I can imagine). She has already stated that Obama would make a good Supreme Court Justice. Her liberal appointees would mean more abortions, less religious freedom, an even bigger assault on the institution of marriage, removal of the second amendment, and so on. This would be a hefty price to pay because Ted Cruz and his cohorts are angry because the electorate chose someone other than them.
I suppose time will tell as to what will happen to this once great country. The only thing for sure is that quite a few candidates that seemed to be great people showed their true colors when they outright lied to the world. The worst thing about it is that they don’t seem to be repentant about it in the least.
In business I made my word my bond. Trust me I made more than a few rash agreements that I would love to have never done, but my word was on the line and even if I lost money because I refused to go back on my word, (verbal agreement or otherwise), I stuck with it and lived up to my end of the bargain. I’m very proud of this achievement and as a result, I still have a reputation for being honest and having integrity which means more to me than the money.
I would like to take credit for coming up with that philosophy on my own, but no, it came directly out of the Bible. Maybe “Lying Ted-Jeb-Marco-John” should read the Bible. Here I even looked it up for them:
Proverbs 12:22
Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.
