Just because he is a scoundrel

As I watched some of the Democrats at their convention this week I wondered if we are living on separate planets. Their view of the current state of affairs seems surreal. It seems they are looking at the world through rose colored lenses where we are living in a utopia with things getting better on every front. They seem to believe that another eight years of pursuing the status quo and we’ll have reached our goal of creating a utopian society. Judging from their speeches they aren’t cognizant of ISIS, racist inspired killings of our police and innocent people, the Middle East nuclear threat from Iran, the $20 trillion-dollar national debt, the ever increasing number of people living on welfare and the division in our country.

Their convention seemed more like a confusion based propaganda-fest to me. Many of the speeches reminded me of Russian Communist dictator Vladimir Lenin. Some quotes by him are:

  • A lie told often enough becomes the truth.
  • Give us the child for 8 years and it will be a Bolshevik forever
  • To rely upon conviction, devotion, and other excellent spiritual qualities; that is not to be taken seriously in politics
  • There are no morals in politics; there is only expedience. A scoundrel may be of use to us just because he is a scoundrel

Henry A. Wallace wrote: “The American fascists are most easily recognized by their deliberate perversion of truth and fact . . . ” and it seems the Democrats have embraced these philosophies.

There are those fighting to get the truth out. It reminds me of a salmon trying to swim upstream. They are assaulted by the power brokers in media, government, business, and celebrities including the Hollywood elite.

Occasionally someone breaks through the lies and exposes the truth. A new documentary by Dinesh D’Souza has surfaced called: Hillary’s America that does just that. It is in theaters now and is already the top grossing documentary for 2016 and I encourage you to go watch it.

At the Jesus Alliance we have vowed to remain apolitical but are determined to equip the body of Christ with the truth. Detractors will smirk, and try to claim anything is political that might speak out against people running for office, but I believe there is a huge difference in telling the truth and perpetuating a lie. Most of America gets one side of the story which is a myth. They blithely go along thinking everything is going swell after all our media (which is 3% Christian) tells us so.

Ugh!

Don’t fall into the trap and don’t be afraid to speak truth no matter what label might be thrown at you. Ask yourself these questions:

  • Where does Jesus stand in all of this?
  • Is He hiding on the sidelines and not denouncing immorality such as the homosexual lifestyle, abortion, or exploitation of the poor?
  • Is He trying to be politically correct for fear of upsetting someone?
  • Does He plainly speak the truth?

Jesus stood on His foundation, the Holy Scripture, and steadfastly proclaimed it until the power brokers crucified Him. His disciples did likewise. We too should proclaim the truth regardless of the pressures of darkness wherever they are and no matter how powerful they might be.

Have a great weekend and go to Honey Lake Church (or somewhere) this weekend. And by the way those of you who would like to obtain the evangelism training materials and tract mentioned in yesterday’s WFTD should go to www.inmateencounter.com/ and order online.

Matthew 10:22

You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
