The son of Billy Graham, Franklin Graham lamented that lately several TV programs have refused to air segments on various programs because someone had used the name of Jesus and he has written about it in a book. The TV stations are afraid that it might offend someone to say the word Jesus on the air. It is of course permissible (and “freedom of speech”), to air pornography, “gay” sitcoms, unabated cursing, murder, mayhem and violence on every channel and if it offends someone let them be damned; (“we’re talking freedom of speech issues here”).

Franklin made a good point that Jesus was the most inclusive person who has ever walked this earth. He excluded no one, not lepers, sinners, poor people, rich people, infidels, Muslims, Pharisees, Romans, prostitutes, tax collectors, Jews, Gentiles, et al. It is odd that the liberal media who generally champions inclusion and freedom of speech, exclude the holy name of Jesus.

People are divided over Jesus. He can separate a room faster than a speeding bullet. Jesus predicted that this would happen. Fathers and sons, brothers and sisters, friends and individuals working side by side will be divided. One day the wheat will be separated from the chaff. Jesus predicted that many people in the last day will come to Him fully expecting to receive a one way ticket to heaven only to hear Him tell them, “I never knew you”.

If we are true Christians, the Bible teaches that we will “want” to
stand up and be counted for Jesus. We will be proud that we have Jesus
in our lives and we will want to share it with others. Do not be ashamed to speak up for Jesus. Don’t shy away from His Holy name. You and I are being tested. God’s watchful eye is on us day and night. Nothing escapes Him. Ask yourself right now, does anyone other than you know that you love Jesus with all of your heart? Do you cringe when the subject comes up in a conversation with peers? Have you ever shared your love for Him with anyone? Are you ashamed of Jesus? There is a dangerous consequence for being ashamed of Jesus . . .

Have a great weekend and go to Honey Lake Church or somewhere this Sunday.

Mark 8:38

“For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words
in this adulterous
and sinful generation,
of him the Son
of Man also will be ashamed when
He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.”
