One time I went to Costa Rico and we took a bus ride from the airport in San Jose to the coast to go deep sea fishing and along the way the driver stopped near a jungle. He got out and made a few sounds with his mouth and an entire colony of monkeys appeared jumping and swinging around in the trees. They began screaming and howling for all they were worth and it was hilarious to watch them.

I was thinking about this incident and it reminded me of some of your responses to yesterday’s post about “The Donald”. I didn’t want to create a firestorm, but apparently feelings run high about the bombastic billionaire. I could not understand the unwillingness of so many to even consider that he could change his viewpoint on a variety of issues and/or that the guy could possibly run the country better than the traditional professional politicians and their lobbyist friends.

I think the dumbest argument is when people say that Trump is not a conservative (when they do so based upon statements he has made through the years). Are people supposed to be born a conservative and remain that way from cradle to grave in order to satisfy the hard liner purists? I’ve changed my mind on a variety of issues as I’ve learned more about them.

One man ranted about him being married three times, sleeping around on his wives, making money off of gambling, supporting abortion and various other sins.

Hmmm . . . What would one expect of a pagan? He is doing what comes natural to a non-believer. Does that mean he can never change?

I received Christ as my Savior when I was 25 years old; I’m 69 today. Prior to Christ entering my life I was one of the worst sinners that ever stalked the earth. After receiving Him as my Savior, (though still not perfect by any stretch of the imagination), I’ve tried very hard to focus on Him on a daily basis and to lead others to His saving grace. Nonetheless there are certain legalists in the church that cannot seem to get by my past in spite of all that I’ve done and refuse to allow me to speak in their churches.

I suppose they don’t think people can change. The Bible teaches we are all sinners and in need of the blood of Jesus. God certainly thinks people can change through His saving grace whether we do, or not.

The ugly world of politics has teams of researchers pouring through videos and past statements desperately looking for something, anything, with which to discredit their opponents, and it seems if they can’t find anything, they just make it up, or take something out of context. The object seems to be to destroy their opponent’s character no matter what. I’ve never understood how running down an opponent would make them look better, but it must work because they all seem to do it. What a nasty world to live in. No wonder so many decent people refuse to submit themselves and/or their family to a political race.

As for me I would prefer a candidate who loves Jesus with all of his heart, body, soul, and spirit.

As a casual observation I don’t know of anyone in this contest that seems to fit that category – Do you?

As for me I’m going to vote for the person that I believe has the necessary skills to revive our country economically, make our defense the best in the world again, stop religious persecution, the assault on gun ownership, and other attacks on the constitution, and to end the ghoulish practice of killing unborn children. He doesn’t have to be a card carrying conservative or have the blessing of any media talking head or political hack. I would hope that he would be a believer or a pre-believer getting ready to make his move.

I would emphasize that I stand by every remark I made yesterday, but if you want to howl about this post, be my guest. I for one know that people can and do change and that includes “The Donald”. He is smart and there are very few that can build a multi-billion dollar empire such as he has done; (trust me I know how hard it is to even build a multi-million dollar empire). He also seems to love his family very much and they love him. Hopefully if elected he will support Christian values and our country can breathe a sigh of relief after 8 years of misery. I’m just praying daily that Bernie and/or Hillary doesn’t win the general election. As I said yesterday I urge you to vote this year, even if you have to hold your nose to do it.

Psalm 89:18

Restore us, O Lord God of hosts! Let your face shine, that we may be saved!
