I am constantly amazed at God on a number of fronts, but creation is one of the coolest. He gave us all various gifts and to some He gave the gift of having a beautiful voice and the ability to sing, (unfortunately I didn’t receive that gift, but I love to listen).

I believe this gift to be rather special to God and as observed in the Bible He is noted as being a singer Himself. Zep. 3:19 The LORD your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

This little verse tells me that we should likewise rejoice over God with singing. We take great delight in Him, and should similarly rejoice over Him. Some denominations think it is sinful to incorporate singing and the use of instruments when worshipping God in their services. Everyone is entitled to their biblical interpretations I suppose, but My Bible clearly tells me otherwise. Consider Psalm 150:1 Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!  . . .

Now the Bible is the unerring word of God and is pure truth. Selah . . . I found some 70 other verses that reinforce this one. So it is obvious that music and instruments should be used to glorify God in our worship services.

Honey Lake Church has a great music program especially during its second Sunday services. February 14th will be no exception. Beginning at 11 a.m. you can be a part of praise worship that will be awesome featuring a local group that is creating quite a stir. They say that big talent comes out of small towns, and LifeSong is no exception to the rule. The young members of this fine group are all from the Tri-County area with roots that run deep in southern gospel music. The group was featured on SingingNews.com and SouthernGospelNews.com during the signing and release of their project, Brand New Start. Their first release to radio, “Sounds Like Heaven,” featured the distinguished voice of living legend, Naomi Sego Reader, who was a special guest vocalist on the recording. They perform original songs as well as southern gospel classics and their appeal is universal and includes audiences of all ages.

So are you convinced to sing or at least sit and tap your foot to the rhythm of praise songs? If not consider that even Jesus sang with the Disciples after the Lord’s Supper and going to the Mount of Olives to pray about His impending crucifixion.

Matt. 26:29

But I say to you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.” After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
