I didn’t watch President Obama’s State of the Union speech last night because I knew that it would be totally separated from reality. I read the reviews of it this morning and it appears as though I was right and saved myself an hour or so of valuable time, because by all accounts it was simply another grandiose political speech painting himself as our savior and all that oppose him as villains.
I would be interested in hearing Jesus offer His State of the Union address for our nation. It would not be political spin, but truth. I can see the Washington D.C. and media jackals howling as their backroom deal agendas disintegrated under His righteous proclamation. It would be comical to see them run for the hills to try and avoid hearing the truth (that most will only whisper about among their closest confidantes).
Yes there is a God and He is keenly interested in everything that occurs in our country. He sees the greed and corruption; He was there the night the Whitehouse was bathed in the rainbow colors of the gay movement; He sees our congress funding Planned Parenthood and enabling it to destroy innocent lives and sell the body parts of little children; He sees many of our churches watering down their sermons to accommodate the whims of congregations who want a “if it feels good do it” endorsement from their church; He is aware of the persecution of those in the church who refuse to cater to their whims, but instead follow God’s word (the Holy Bible) in spite of political correctness, He sees the racism. the poverty, the pornography, the hearts turning cold, and the depravity of those enslaved by drugs and alcohol.
A State of the Union delivered by Jesus Christ would boldly address the moral depravity and decline of love, mercy, and compassion in this once great nation. His address would lay out what must be done to put our nation on a course that would enable Him to once again smile on our nation and bless it more than any nation since the dawn of time.
It would begin with our humbly seeking His face and getting down on our knees before Him and confessing our sins and asking His forgiveness. This would be followed by rekindling our faith in Him and a renewed determination to turn from our wicked ways and follow Him and not the world.
If we will do so, He has guaranteed that He will forgive us and our nation and heal our land.
We don’t need narcissist politicians to tell us what needs to be done to enjoy peace, joy, and love in our personal lives and/or our nation; God has already done that with His Holy Bible.
2 Chron. 7:14
Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.
