I read where a recent satellite probe passed by Pluto and discovered that it had blue skies and red ice. Scientists are giddy about how beautiful it is and are shaking their heads in wonderment. Where in the world did red ice come from? Blue skies? Pluto is so far from the sun that it’s in a perpetual state of twilight; it must be something in the atmosphere refracting the little light it receives.
God has so many delightful surprises for us that it will take eternity to sort them all out. I really look forward to spending time with Jesus and experiencing the beauty and brilliance of creation with Him.
I am spending the weekend with one of my sons and his family and today will enjoy watching my twin granddaughters compete in gymnastics. To my absolute delight they’ve been doing handstands for me and twirling around practicing their routines and smiling those beautiful smiles. It is the first opportunity my wife and I have had to get out of the house since her breast cancer odyssey. It is a little taste of heaven on earth to spend time with our kids and grandkids.
I got news yesterday that the 14 year old son, (Dominic) of a ministry partner is fighting for his life today after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head through both hemispheres. He is unconscious with a breathing tube and some brain activity. He has coughed and his eye twitched to a response.
Please join me in praying for a miracle of complete healing of his brain. Pray that he will recognize his family, speak again, walk again, reason again, and have no lasting damage. Please pray for the family. Please pray that he will live and that his life will be a witness to the miracle of our Lord Jesus. Today they will pull him out of a coma. May the Lord me merciful to this family of faith.
I cannot envision one of my kids or grandkids experiencing a similar situation. I cannot bear to even think about it. One day Jesus will explain why such sadness has to transpire in our fallen world as well as why His own Son Jesus had to die such a horrible death in order that we can be permanently delivered from the insanity forever. Some things are just too difficult to understand with our current limited knowledge.
Until that blessed day we can only enjoy ourselves during the good times and hunker down in the bad. One thing sure, it would be far worse if there were no hope for us to enter heaven. We should all reflect on this today and especially on Sunday. God is our hope for without Him we will never see blue skies or red ice or know the joy, peace, and love that can only come from Him.
Have a great weekend and go to Honey Lake Church this second Sunday and hear from Mike Martin a legend in college baseball. You won’t want to miss it.
Revelation 21:4
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
