Much of my day working for the Jesus Alliance is spent planning, working on the website, and talking on the phone. Often it is sheer drudgery for me and boring as watching grass grow. So tomorrow I’ve been invited to speak at a prison and I can’t wait.
I haven’t had an opportunity to speak lately, and I look forward to it with great anticipation. I’ve been praying this morning that God will open the eyes of the hearts of the men that will receive my message of hope tomorrow, and that they will act boldly and decisively to receive Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Just imagine someone who is sitting in a jail cell today who is headed towards eternal damnation without Christ. Then upon hearing the Gospel tomorrow, the Holy Spirit gently nudges him to ask Jesus for forgiveness, acknowledge that Christ is LORD, and turn from his sins to follow Him instead of the world. By so doing, he will be assured of his place in heaven forever, wonderfully saved from damnation by the blood of Christ and His loving grace.
Yep, it doesn’t get any better than that folks. I have several friends that are going with me to assist those who need Christ in their lives and it should be a great day. Satan will try to stop the Gospel from getting out tomorrow, but we are already petitioning God to send him scurrying away, and trust me he fears prayer and he fears even hearing the name Jesus.
I ask that you join me in prayer for these men and for the power of the Holy Spirit to clear the way for victory. Also please pray that the nasty side effects that I’m experiencing from the chemo treatments will subside at least long enough to deliver a powerful testimony to the ability of our Lord and Savior to transform the lives of even the worst among us.
There is no force more powerful than prayer my friends. It tears down strongholds such as the evil entrenched in the prison system like a sharp ax felling a sapling. It makes brave men out of cowards and believers out of cynics. I cannot overemphasize the power of prayer.
It is my sincere hope that at some point everyone reading this will be afforded the opportunity to lead another person to Christ. I’ve seen and done most all this world has to offer and I’ve owned all kinds of material things. Today I can tell you with no hesitation that there is nothing this world has to offer that will yield greater satisfaction than to lead another human being to receive Christ as their Savior. Our work is easy, Christ is the One who did the unimaginable, and yet we get to share in the joy of His efforts. What a deal . . .
