Ok, it’s September 1st and if you go to http://thejesusalliance.org/ you will see the new website for the Jesus Alliance along with our first video. My promise to God has been fulfilled and now that the movement has been birthed, it is up to you and me and others to pass it on and try to push it all over the world.

I’m very happy that I fulfilled my promise to God for more reasons than one. Did you know that the Bible warns about making a promise to God and not following through? Eccl.5:4 – When you make a vow to God, do not be late in paying it; for He takes no delight in fools. Pay what you vow! Numbers 30:1 He told them these commands from the Lord. “If a person makes a promise to the Lord or says he will do something special, he must keep his promise.

Annais and Saphira lied to Peter about money and in so doing lied to the Holy Spirit. Their punishment was instant death. Can you imagine what would happen if our politicians had to pay a debt in similar fashion for not fulfilling their pre-election vows. I can assure you the graveyards would be full of them and when the next batch of elected officials came in a yes would be a yes and a no would be a no.

Hmmm . . . Not a bad idea eh?

A broken promise means a broken trust and relationship. It’s no small wonder that God is so adamant that we must follow through with our vows and in fact warns against even making them. Better not to make a vow at all than make one and not keep it. I made mine because I felt the urging of God to do so. To break an oath is to sin, so I was taking a risk, but was also determined to fulfill my vow with God’s help.

My father taught me one thing that has stuck with me all my life. He said that at the end of the day the most important thing anyone has is their word. He instructed that my word was my bond and to always remember that. I taught the same thing to my sons and it is my hope that they will pass this vitally important wisdom on to their children. My father was as honest a man as anyone I’ve ever met and consequently was held in very high esteem in his community until he passed away last year.

So God has made all kinds of promises to His children. Knowing how seriously he regards keeping promises, we can know beyond a shadow of a doubt that He will come through with them, but to reinforce it He outright states it in the Bible: Joshua 23:14 – “Not one word has failed of all the good things that the LORD your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one of them has failed.”

God’s Word contains literally thousands of Bible promises waiting to be claimed in faith. It’s my prayer that through your faith and trust in our Heavenly Father that you will be blessed as you read through them and claim what God has promised.

Luke 11:13

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
