There’s so much strife, angst, violence, fear, sickness, and uncertainty going on in the world today that I just wanted to think of something positive to start off my day this morning. I feel exhausted, worn out and discouraged by the world and the myriad of problems at every turn. I began thinking of heaven and I wondered for the millionth time what it will be like. The Bible states that it is incomprehensible, but I love to imagine what it will be like.
Last Saturday night at our little gospel music singing at Honey Lake Church our pastor Kenny Munds sang one of my favorite songs “I Can Only Imagine” by MercyMe, The link to this fabulous song is as follows: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xwzItqYmII
I can only imagine what it will be like
when I walk by your side.
I can only imagine what my eyes will see
when your face is before me.
I can only imagine.
I can only imagine
Refrain
Surrounded by your glory,
what will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you, Jesus,
or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence
or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing hallelujah?
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine.
I can only imagine.
I can only imagine when that day comes
and I find myself standing in the Son.
I can only imagine when all I will do
is forever, forever worship you.
I can only imagine.
I can only imagine.
I urge you to imagine what it will be like to walk with Jesus in heaven where sickness, tears, violence, fear, grief, uncertainty and black vile sin do not exist.
As I write these words I’m listening to this song for the third time. I must admit that I woke up feeling really down and discouraged this morning. Perhaps that is why I’ve played it so many times and prayed so intensely.
To think of being in His presence and feel His love is overwhelming to me. I am facing a crescendo of unprecedented spiritual attack in my life and my countenance is one of discouragement today; however the thought of being with Jesus forever has renewed my will to fight through another day for what is good and acceptable and perfect – I still need much more prayer time this morning, as I really don’t have even a weak little smile attempting to break through.
When we want to smile, but have to sigh we need prayer and more time with Jesus. I can only imagine Him looking over my shoulder while I plead with Him to: “Come quickly Jesus!” Would He say “Bob if you only knew what was in store for you, you would consider these present trials sheer joy”. The fields are ripe for harvest and after it is complete you may rest in Me forever!
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
