I read a (somewhat prophetic) quote from someone whose life was violently taken from him because of hate. He said, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction . . . The chain reaction of evil — hate begetting hate, wars producing more wars — must be broken, or we shall be plunged into the dark abyss of annihilation.
–Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Our country is divided almost down the middle. Hatred looms on both sides. I was thinking about this and wondered what God thinks about it all. First I looked up hate in the dictionary to better define it. The dictionary states that hate is as follows, “Dislike somebody or something intensely; have strong distaste for something; feeling of intense hostility”.
Hmmm. Do you hate anyone?
God has strong feelings about hate. We all should meditate on this one today. Selah . . .
1 John 3:15
Whoever hates his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
