I was going to watch television with my wife for a while last night and we sat down to the evening news. It wasn’t pretty; floods in Texas with heartbreaking casualties and stories of folks who’ve lost everything; losing the war in Iraq and in fact the entire Middle East and North Africa; murders running rampant in Baltimore; 22 people exposed to Anthrax; huge earthquake in Nepal with thousands killed and missing; terrorists plotting; China building islands from which to wage war; Iran making progress on nukes; it was enough to just turn the channel to Netflix.
Unfortunately I saw plenty of selections for movies for the gays and lesbians, movies about hit men, crime bosses, murder, violence, and mayhem, but faith based selections were few and far between. I’d already seen all of them and ended up watching some stupid silly movie about two guys on a mountain that insulted my intelligence.
Several friends sent me requests to sign a petition to ask Fox to cancel plans to air a television series about “Lucifer” http://www.fox.com/lucifer a new series which will glorify Satan as a caring, likable person in human flesh. (I signed the petition.)
According to the Fox website, the series will focus on Lucifer, “who is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell.” He resigns his throne, abandons his kingdom and retires to Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.
At the same time, God’s emissary, the angel Amenadiel, has been sent to Los Angeles to ‘convince’ Lucifer to return to the underworld. Previews of the pilot episode depict graphic acts of violence, a nightclub featuring scantily-clad women and a demon. The movie depicts Lucifer as charming, charismatic and devilishly handsome, Lucifer is enjoying his retirement, indulging in a few of his favorite things – wine, women and song – when a beautiful pop star is brutally murdered outside of Lux.
The ad reads in part: “For the first time in roughly 10 billion years, he feels something awaken deep within him as a result of this murder. Compassion? Sympathy? The very thought disturbs him – as well as his best friend and confidante, MAZIKEEN aka MAZE, a fierce demon in the form of a beautiful young woman.” Blah –Blah – Blah….

So yes the world is getting more and more evil. Satanic activity is on the increase and will continue to get worse and like the current state of Iraq, if it appears we are losing the war, it is because we are. The Bible prophetically foretold of these days in which we live and what is yet to come. It states that the world will continue to get more and more evil until it is like the days of Noah and the world will be so evil that it cannot distinguish right from wrong and God will be mocked by all but a remnant.
But don’t get too dismayed, God is releasing the Holy Spirt in ways not seen in centuries, especially in Africa, Asia, and in the Middle East, (albeit secretly). A great revival has begun to occur where Jesus is manifesting Himself in dreams and visions and amazing miracles similar to those in the days after Pentecost are occurring routinely. We know how the conflict will end because we have read the last chapter of the Bible.
I comforted my wife in telling her not to worry about the state of affairs in this country or around the world, because all these things have been prophesied and must happen, but God is faithful to His children and will protect us. The significance to me is the urgency of the situation of time running out. I realize that I need to work that much harder to take the gospel to every person that I can reach, because like Jesus I desire that no one should be sent to hell forever.
Many of my friends don’t seem to worry too much about the lost, especially those who are violent criminals or whatever. They take the approach that we should just “let ‘em burn in hell; that is what they deserve”.
Don’t we all my friends – Don’t we all . . .
If you are a true believer, you will anguish over the lost. David Wilkerson once said, “That in order to have true passion for Christ, one must be BAPTIZED in anguish”. Christ loved us all in spite of our sins, not desiring that anyone would perish, but He is a Holy and righteous judge who must uphold the law. Heaven is for real, but unfortunately so is hell. Lucifer will be locked up in the bottomless pit and suffer for eternity and all of those who follow him will spend eternity in this place prepared for the wicked. That is what the television series should be about.
We should all be in church this Sunday praying for this once great country. We should pray that our faith, strength, and courage be increased for what lies ahead. Imagine all those people spending eternity in hell. It makes me shiver. We need to pray for a Great Awakening! But this will be your chance to tell about your faith. Don’t worry about what you will say to defend yourselves. I will give you the wisdom to know what to say. None of your enemies will be able to oppose you or to say that you are wrong. You will be betrayed by your own parents, brothers, family, and friends. Some of you will even be killed. Because of me, you will be hated by everyone. But don’t worry! You will be saved by being faithful to me.
