I was watching Megyn Kelly last night and a young man came on who was a conservative and he recently came out of the closet and announced that he was “gay”. Ms. Kelly stated to him that she bet he was really catching it from both sides including the gay community and the “religious right”.
So why are those of us who believe the Bible to be the inspired word of God lumped all together and disdainfully called the “religious right”? Often it has a connotation of being a radical right wing fundamentalist and a bigot as well. In fact the Department of Homeland Security lists us as potential terrorist threats and portions of the Bible are being attacked as being hate speech.
Huh?
Whoa, whoa, whoa! The Bible is the manifestation of the purest form of love the world has ever known. It was written by God who loves us so much that we cannot even comprehend it. Yes he warns us about behavior that could harm us. What would one expect from a Father who loves us in such a manner?
God tells us that kids should respect their parents, that we shouldn’t steal, murder, commit adultery, have sex out of wedlock, we should rest and go to church one day a week, we should not drink unless in moderation, we should not engage in homosexuality.
Oops cannot say that in today’s society. One writer strongly made the case that we should take that out of the Bible. Perhaps this guy should understand that only God could do such a thing. We do not control the message.
So why would God put in His Bible that homosexuality is a sin. Many believe that people are born that way and couldn’t change if they wanted to and it cannot be a sin. Others point to folks that have been homosexuals, found God, and changed. From my point of view these are all just ordinary folks; the Bible was written by our Creator and it states that it is a sin and as for me that is good enough.
With that said, should I condemn those who commit this sin? The same Bible tells us we are to love everyone regardless of their sins. Jesus said that He did not come to condemn, or judge the world including all of its sinners, but to save it. We should emulate him in every way possible.
Warnings about sin in the Bible are in part designed to caution us about the consequences of sin. Consider homosexuality:
- Highest incidence of sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s) including AIDS and HIV
- Increased risks of various types of cancer
- High Incidence of Mental Health Problems among Homosexuals and Lesbians
- A study published in the International Journal of Epidemiology on the mortality rates of homosexuals concluded that they have a significantly reduced life expectancy: In a major Canadian centre, life expectancy at age twenty for gay and bisexual men is eight to twenty years less than for all men. If the same pattern of mortality were to continue, they estimate that nearly half of gay and bisexual men currently aged twenty years will not reach their sixty-fifth birthday. Under even the most liberal assumptions, gay and bisexual men in this urban centre are now experiencing a life expectancy similar to that experienced by all men in in the year 1871.
- Homosexuals have a greater risk of suicide and mental illness

Homosexual activists attempt to portray their lifestyle as normal and healthy, and insist that homosexual relationships are the equivalent in every way to their heterosexual counterparts and the media relentlessly portray the image of the fit, healthy, and well-adjusted homosexual. The reality is quite the opposite. In fact it is a lie. The Jesus Alliance wants to lovingly but convincingly let people know that all is not as the Progressives make things out to be on a number of issues.
We are beginning a campaign to change opinions with facts where possible. I hope you will be a part of it. It will take years to impact society but we must start somewhere. A summary is as follows:
Vision: Regain control of the message and narrative currently rooted in anti-God philosophies.
Goal: Create a major multi-media campaign with a goal of sending out two billion pro-God messages by the end of 2016
Production: Produce a series of media 1-2 minute video, radio, and billboard messages that are relevant and designed to reshape our culture.
Content: Establish guidelines that would ensure that established spirit led organizations including leaders and members of churches, other ministries and the marketplace would adopt and disseminate Jesus Alliance messaging through their media channels.
Strategy: Use a team of human behavior experts, as well as creative talent such as writers, designers and even comedic writers to develop positive,, emotionally compelling, brilliant, and thought provoking media messaging campaigns designed to reach every segment of society through every known form of new and established media.
Why go to all of this trouble and expense? As Dr. David Jeremiah once said:
- Satan’s Target is your Mind
- Satan’s Weapon is lies
- Satan’s Purpose is to make You Ignorant of God’s Will
- Your Defense—The Inspired Word of God.
