Senator Diane Feinstein recently said of ISIS: “It has occupied some 14-15 cities in Iraq. It beheads children. I have a picture of what I estimate to be a six-year-old girl in a gingham party dress, white tights, a little red band around her wrist, Mary Janes (shoes), and she is lying on the ground and her head is gone . . . And this is the mentality of the group that we are so concerned with. They have killed thousands, they are marching on. They have an army; they are well organized.”
Astonishingly many American Christians do not believe that evil exists and/or that Satan is a real being. They don’t believe that the Holy Spirit is a living entity. The statistics are disturbing, approximately 40% of folks in the United States don’t believe in satan, hell, evil, and about half of those agreed that the Holy Spirit is only a symbol and not a living entity. To demonstrate how illogical these American “Christians” are, they agreed that the Bible is totally accurate in all of the principles it teaches.
Huh?
The Bible of course states that the Holy Spirit is God, and is a living entity fully equipped with God’s power and presence, and is not just symbolic. Jesus spoke of Him before ascending into heaven and He is referred to throughout the Bible.
George Barna, founder of The Barna Group and author of books analyzing research concerning America’s faith, states: “Most Americans, even those who say they are Christian, have doubts about the intrusion of the supernatural into the natural world; Hollywood has made evil accessible and tame, making satan and demons less worrisome than the Bible suggests they really are.” He went on to say, “It’s hard for achievement-driven, self-reliant, independent people to believe that their lives can be impacted by unseen forces.”
I wonder what these same people think when they see images of a six year old girl dressed in a party dress without a head lying on the ground. Do you suppose that seeing her lying on the streets of Manhattan or Anywhere USA would impact their lives and make them believe in evil? What is the antithesis of good if not evil?
Evil manifested through murderers and others exist in our world and satan is the “father” of it.
John 8:44 – “For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning.He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
We are seeing the manifestation of a murderous satan and bloodlust evil all over the world and it is predicted by the Bible to intensify to a point of complete insanity. Make no mistake it WILL get worse and we have an obligation to witness to others about biblical truths concerning what is happening and is yet to come. Listen to this passage in Revelation 14:20:
So the angel swung his sickle to the earth and gathered the clusters from the vine of the earth, and threw them into the great wine press of the wrath of God. And the wine press was trodden outside the city, and blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, for a distance of two hundred miles.
Matthew Henry says of this passage: “Warnings and judgments not having produced reformation, the sins of the nations are filled up, and they become ripe for judgments, represented by a harvest . . . The enemies of Christ and his church are not destroyed, till by their sin they are ripe for ruin, and then he will spare them no longer. The wine-press is the wrath of God, some terrible calamity, probably the sword, shedding the blood of the wicked. The patience of God towards sinners is the greatest miracle in the world; but, though lasting, it will not be everlasting; and ripeness in sin is a sure proof of judgment at hand.”
Do not think for a moment that a very real God did not watch that little six year old child being beheaded. I believe sin to be mushy ripe and time is very short. Do not think that punishment delayed is punishment denied. Jesus does not desire to send anyone to hell everlasting. His grace is beyond comprehension and He endures and endures. Just imagine if you witnessed what He witnesses all over the world on a daily basis; what would you do with us sinners?
As Matthew Henry stated, God has issued warnings of judgment and when those are denied the end will come. We live in an era when time is growing short and too many folks are ignoring God, but thanks to the miracle of God in his patience there is still at least some amount of time to turn to Him and away from our sins.
Please witness to someone today. Tell them about the difference God has made in your life; tell them that hell is for real and that the only escape is through the salvation offered through the blood of Christ. The time for a Great Awakening is NOW! If you are too timid, then send them this posting
