I hope to send out an update to Renewal of America members this week. One of the most exciting things about the update will be the announcement of our organization’s new name. The reason for the name change is that there was far too much confusion over it. Several ministries had already incorporated words like “Renewal”, “Renew” and “America” into their websites and Facebook pages and it was creating much confusion as to exactly which organization members were trying to join.
And aside from the confusion issue, we also felt that the name “Renewal of America” did not adequately describe our organization’s overall mission; which reaches far beyond America and changing its culture but also encompasses our ultimate goal of uniting Christians all over the world and of course evangelization and the fulfillment of the Great Commission.
Last week I asked 12 of our leaders to gather together in Atlanta in order to meet and humbly pray and ask God to give us His wisdom in clearly defining our organization’s name and further clarify our mission. I’m happy to say that after much prayer and discussion for two days we reached unity and voted unanimously to adopt the name, “The Jesus Alliance”.
We felt that there is not another name in the Universe that can unify the church, (the body of born again believers of which Jesus Christ is the head) and convince one and all to put aside any divisiveness including theology, politics, race, egos, logos, age, gender, grudges, feuds, and reluctance to work together and obey God’s command to unify as one, as Jesus is united as one with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
The name of Jesus is synonymous with love, hope, peace, mercy, forgiveness, healing, compassion, and joy and we sincerely believe that we could never find a less divisive name. This is an all-powerful name that will release great blessings over the organization and its members. In fact it is the most powerful name in all creation and I know that God is well pleased with our decision.
Yesterday I spoke with a man who has been in evangelization ministry for decades. He has been extremely successful and blessed in reaching people all over the world as a missionary, church planter, and evangelist and he is encouraged about what little remains to be done in order for the Great Commission to finally be fulfilled.
He has four research assistants who compile data every day and his organization has determined precisely how many nations are left that need to hear the Gospel preached, how many people need to be discipled by missionaries, how many churches need to be planted, how many languages remain that need Bible translation, and how much money will be required to accomplish it.
I am happy to report that tremendous progress is being made daily and it is a real and very achievable goal.
I also talked with the founder and CEO of the largest technological evangelistic organization in the world yesterday. His 261 websites and phone applications and nearly 8000 phone support staff reach 1 million people per day with 200,000 decisions for Christ being made. He was beaming as he related to me the progress that they are making especially in the Muslim world. They reached 13 million Muslims for Christ in June and 14 million in July. He too has precisely calculated what will be required to fulfill the Great Commission. It is a finite number of people and he and his staff are working around the clock to achieve it.
Both organizations are partnering with The Jesus Alliance and we are very serious about preaching the Gospel and discipling every nation as Jesus commanded prior to His ascension into heaven. In short we know that it can be accomplished in a short time frame!
As I talk to leaders all over the United States and the globe I’m greatly encouraged as I see God calling together His remnant of believers for what I believe will be the last Great Awakening and revival.
It is not surprising that simultaneously satan has increased the evil in the world to historic proportions especially with ISIS and other Jihadists around the world, Ebola, famine, rioting, and other evil. He knows the end is near and he has unleashed evil as the modern world has never experienced and the bad news is that it will get much worse before it gets better.
Take heart though, both are prophesied in the Bible to occur in the “Last Days” and God is still in control.
Many people are still apathetic and remain on the sidelines tending to business just like those in the days leading up to the flood in the days of Noah. I urge you to join the fight and don’t get swept away by the lusts of the world. Become engaged! Sign up for The Jesus Alliance, pray, donate your resources, and go to work. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind; to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
