Anyone who thinks that Christians will not be persecuted in this country is wrong; in fact it’s already happening. I had the idea to apply for a grant to the Florida state legislature to establish a conservation camp for boys in order to take some needy kids, primarily from the “hood”, and get them off the street and put them in the safe environment at Honey Lake for a week at a time and teach them that there is more to life than the mean streets and dysfunctional family life that is all they know.

We wanted them to experience the great outdoors and learn about conservation and the teeming wildlife at Honey Lake. They would have an opportunity, (many for the very first time) to fish, camp, hike, gather eggs from our chicken yard, walk through the tranquil forest, harvest crops from our garden, and other wholesome activities instead of spending their time fighting, stealing cars, becoming drunk, and getting high on drugs.

One would think the “principalities” and “rulers in high places” would be all over that, but I was informed that the President of our state senate and a few other politicians killed it deader than a goose in a hailstorm stating that Honey Lake was a “Christian organization”.

Huh?

I appreciate that compliment but it is untrue. We have a separate Honey Lake Church and Worldwide Ministry but it is not a part of Honey Lake Resort & Spa which is a normal LLC corporation and pays enormous amounts of taxes.

All the squawking in the world couldn’t change their minds and our chances of helping a bunch of needy kids was over before it got started.

Why?

It’s not about the money; there was ample money in the budget. There was also precedent; they’ve given another plantation twice the amount of money that we requested as a grant for a similar operation. No my friends it was for no other reason than I am an outspoken Christian and this “smelled” like a Christian thing to a few politicians who are worried that their rotten careers might suffer if some atheist or media hound complains. In essence we are being discriminated against and persecuted because we are Christians.

We are not alone, read this news clip that I received today:

Mozilla CEO resigns following gay marriage flap (Reuters)

Mozilla chief executive Brendan Eich has stepped down, the company said Thursday, after an online dating service urged a boycott of the company’s Web browser because of a donation Eich made to opponents of gay marriage.

The software company came under fire for appointing Eich as chief executive last month. In 2008, he gave $1,000 to oppose the legalization of gay marriage in California.

“We didn’t act like you’d expect Mozilla to act,” Mozilla’s executive chairperson, Mitchell Baker, wrote in her blog post. “We didn’t move fast enough to engage with people once the controversy started,” she added. “We’re sorry.”

Gay activists applauded the move, but many in the tech community lamented the departure of Eich, who invented the programming language JavaScript and co-founded Mozilla.

“Brendan Eich is a good friend of 20 years, and has made a profound contribution to the Web and to the entire world,” venture capitalist Marc Andreessen said.

What happened to free speech in this country?

We are losing this battle every day. If you take a stand and try to do something in this country that is good and wholesome, you will be persecuted. So most stay silent and keep their heads down so they won’t get blown off.

Check this out from another column:

Billboards claim ‘Jesus is Muslim’

Billboards in Columbus, Ohio state “Jesus is Muslim,” “Mohammed is in the Bible,” and “Muslims love Jesus too.”  They were paid for by a local Muslim group whose website is “dedicated to educating you about Islam.”

My focus this morning is not on the group’s message but on their commitment.  Only 40 percent of the population in Columbus, Ohio identifies with a religious affiliation (compared to 78.4 percent for the nation as a whole).  Clearly, hundreds of thousands of people in Columbus need the gospel.  Muslims in the city constitute only 1.3 percent of the population.  And yet they are engaged in a significant, multi-media strategy to bring their message to their city.

I’m wondering what Christians should be doing to match and exceed Islam’s evangelistic passion and commitment.  Muslim businessmen are spending billions of dollars to fund the export of Islam around the world.

I say again, Where are the Christians?

I cannot wait to get Christians united in this country to combat the forces of evil that are overtaking America. If we have 100 million Christians collaborating we can and will make a difference. Christians vote and we spend money and we are tired of being ignored and discriminated against and persecuted for our beliefs. We need to take action and yes we as leadership might be persecuted, but someone has to take a stand or we are going to lose our country! I hope you will join us! Selah . . .

Have a great weekend and go to Honey Lake Church, (or somewhere) this weekend!

2 Tim. 3:12

Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted

Romans 6:1-11;36

What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.
