We’re fast approaching the best and holiest time of the year and it has absolutely nothing to do with Easter Bunnies. This celebration is about Jesus Christ being crucified and three days later arising from the grave and death being defeated forever which made reunification with almighty God reality.
It’s hard to imagine the glory surrounding God and the place that He lives. I’ve been in some high dollar homes and seen my share of splendor in some beautiful places in my lifelong journey, but have seen nothing in comparison. I can envision Jesus being attended to by innumerable glorious angels in the most beautiful of settings from a throne that is so gorgeous that it would take defies imagination.
I imagine God pondered the curse upon mankind and it became evident that there was but one way for reconcilement to occur and that was to leave His beautiful heavenly abode and His role as ruler of all creation and be born in a lowly manger and later become a simple carpenter who after thirty three years of living a sinless perfect life would be terribly crucified on our behalves.
How it must have agonized Him to think of the suffering that He would endure. As His eyes roamed the earth and He viewed mankind from a perspective of past, present and future. Imagine the terrible sins that he views from His rebellious creatures, and yet for some unfathomable reason He still loves us and has tremendous compassion for every single one of us; a love that was so deep that it moved Him to literally leave His glorious home and visit the earth that He created and take on the form of a lowly man and die an agonizing death as payment for our sins.
He didn’t have to do it.
Yet God loves us with a love that is far deeper than anyone can imagine. There are times when perhaps we question that love, particularly when times are bad. All one needs to do however, is to remember how Jesus suffered and that He willingly left paradise and His throne for no other reason than His indescribable love for us in order that we may be united with Him again forever. The very least one can do to show our appreciation is to attend church this upcoming Sunday and worship Him and thank Him for loving us enough to die an agonizing death in order that we might live.
In fact why wait, say a prayer right now wherever you are at this very moment and thank God almighty for what He has done for you personally.
Isaiah 55:6
Seek the Lord while He may be found.
Call upon Him while He is near.
