You gotta believe

So the Florida State “Noles” are now the reigning national champions of all of college football. While watching the first half one would never have believed they had a chance; however a small ray of hope emerged towards the end when they seemed to gain some poise and score a touchdown right before halftime. They came back in the second half with gusto and won the game in the final seconds. It was a great comeback and the way they did it made their victory all the sweeter.

Hmmm . . . What a great lesson in perseverance and determination . . .

So many of us seem to become so discouraged when things don’t go our way and often it gets to the point of our simply folding our hands and just accepting defeat without so much as a whimper.

I view perseverance as one of my strongest assets and one of the key factors in the successes that I’ve known. Sure I get discouraged and want to quit, especially when I’m getting beat up and satanic attack is coming in fast and furious wave after ferocious wave, but I don’t quit. I keep fighting and fighting and fighting just like the Eveready Bunny Rabbit (and the FSU Seminoles last night).

Conversely Auburn seemed to become complacent and after scoring yet another touchdown which put them far ahead in that first half, their coach could be heard shouting to his players that they were a better team than FSU.

Hmmm . . . Better to organize the parade and begin the celebration AFTER the game, instead of before it has ended . . .

This battle reminds me of the struggle between those whose desire is to transform this country into a godless, socialist state, where immorality is the rule and government dictates what we should think, say, and do, (including even our sacred religious beliefs), and those who want it to return to “one nation under God, indivisible, with life, liberty and justice for all”.

If a cosmic observer were watching what is happening in our country or indeed the world, they would have to be wincing at the thrashing that those who love God are enduring; (condoms being issued to middle school kids, half of marriages ending in divorce, wars, racism, not allowed to pray at high school football games, greed and corruption commonplace in Congress and Wall Street, our President who holds the highest office in the land and is the most powerful person on the planet being named the biggest liar of the year, alcoholism affecting nearly 1 out of 2 families in America, drug addiction at 10%, churches dividing, gay and lesbian marriages taking place, 63 million abortions, priests and pastors harming little kids, pornography affecting 52% of the population, poverty at record numbers, 1 of 3 kids not graduating from high school, prisons overflowing, cartels and gangs wantonly killing with cold indifference, crosses not allowed in military cemeteries . . . )

Yep, if it were a heavyweight fight they would stop it, and just throw in the towel.

Well call me crazy but I’m not about to quit, because I think we can come back and experience revival in this country as never before. I think the moral majority in America is a “sleeping giant” that is on the verge of experiencing a “Great Awakening”. Hopefully those who wish to destroy us have grown cocky and complacent with their success; either way I still believe we can come roaring back and defeat them.

Why am I so confident? It begins with my tremendous faith in our omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient God – (meaning there is no part of creation that can escape His presence; or escape His influence or authority; or can escape His complete and unlimited awareness that perceives all things, and understanding).

Almighty God who can do all things is on our side! We simply need to turn back to Him and pray that He will assist us in our efforts of bringing about revival to this great land. Then we need to roll up our sleeves and go to work.

Consider the FSU team at halftime. What if they had just accepted that Auburn was the better team and just too strong for them? Auburn would be national champions this morning.

The FSU coaches first had to make sure that their players believed that they could win the battle. We need to do likewise and have complete and trusting faith in God that He will assist us in saving our country and that we can do it.

The key word is assist. The coaches didn’t win that game, the players did. Make no mistake we must do our part and as I’ve said many times, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” means what it states. “’I’ can do”. It does not mean that now that I’m a Christian, Christ will do everything for me. It means we need to do our part and go out and fight for our lives and the lives of our children and grandchildren and our beloved country.

We can do it . . . Hey-a-hey o-o-o – Hey-a-hey o-o-o

Romans 5:3

Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
