I’m constantly amazed at how God works in my life. In January I will begin a Bible study at Honey Lake Church (that will begin at 9:30 a.m. before church each Sunday). The first series will last 6 weeks and I want to begin it with an overview of how the Bible was written and canonized, and then provide details concerning who the 40 authors were who wrote down the words given to them by God. I will provide irrefutable, empirical data, and other evidence of why the Bible should be believed. I will outline the best way I’ve found to read and study it in order to get the most out of it. Each week thereafter I will try to convey in simple terms what it says, and what it means to you.
Yesterday I flew to New York City and went to Madison Square Garden to see Dr. David Jeremiah. The airport was fogged in and our flight was delayed several long hours. We arrived just an hour before the event was to begin and it seemed hopeless that we would arrive downtown in time to see it, but we just laughed that we were under satanic attack and God would provide a way.
The wait to get a cab was 2 hours; miraculously we found a man who agreed to provide us a ride in his car; we accepted and headed to Times Square, but then the traffic was horrendous due to tens of thousands of tourists being in NYC for Christmas. It was as though God said, “Not to worry I can handle that”. This kind man dropped us off in front of Madison Square Garden and then took our bags to our hotel and dropped them off, (talk about faith).
We arrived in our seats 5 minutes before it began and didn’t miss a minute of it.
After a rousing performance by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir and other outstanding musical groups, Dr. David Jeremiah spoke. I had no idea what he was going to speak about, (I’d been invited by some friends and agreed to go, knowing that anything that he talked about would be well worth the listen).
His subject was the unveiling of his new Jeremiah Study Bible, something he has spent some 40 years preparing to write and 3 years to get down on paper.
Dr. Jeremiah began the introduction to it by showing a video that detailed practically all of the information that I want to share in my introduction to my new Bible study.
I was astounded!
I received an autographed copy and as I browsed through it, I became convinced that I should rely heavily upon it and perhaps even use it as the workbook for my class. I have no doubt that I will spend years immersed in it and enjoy learning this great man of God’s perspective on our Lord’s major form of communication to us, His Holy Bible.
Wow! Jesus said in Matt. 7:7, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you”.
Doggone if you won’t start believing it when you get enough prayers answered I tell you. I’ve desired to begin conducting a Bible study for some time but have hesitated due to my limited time. Finally I just went on faith that I would somehow be able to find the time to do so, and this study Bible will help immeasurably.
I hope that it is not lost on you that as soon as I moved forward on faith God stepped up to the plate and provided a tremendous resource to help simplify my task.
Thank you Jesus!
The same was true on developing my Words for the Day Discipleship Program that I mentioned the other day. I was intimidated by pouring through 2 million plus words stemming from 15 years of writings. I asked for volunteers to help with the project and several people immediately stepped up and offered to help, and within a couple of weeks the project will begin in earnest.
My point today is that we should not wait until all things are perfect before beginning doing God’s work. At some point we have to step forward on faith and know that if the project is important to Him and within His will, He will provide a way to get it done. We supply our faith and He supplies our needs.
Today I’m trying to arrange a private meeting with Dr. David Jeremiah to discuss making arrangements for him to come to Honey Lake to speak when Governor Huckabee does this March 17-18th. I realize how incredibly busy this man of God is and how difficult it will be for him to work it into his schedule, but our God is a powerful God and can do anything He wants provided we have enough faith and it is within His will.
Please pray that it will go favorably today.
Have a great weekend and go to Honey Lake Church this weekend. It’s the second Sunday and that means we have a special guest speaker, none other than Barry McGee and he will bless you as you haven’t been blessed in some time as will Terry Warren’s singing!
I’ll be back too for whatever that’s worth . . . 🙂
Jer. 29:13
You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
