So over the weekend Cracker Barrel decided to pull the Duck Commander’s merchandise from its restaurants because of his remarks to GQ Magazine. Conversely Walmart sold out its entire inventory after the story went viral.

I cannot imagine such an idiotic move. I’d venture to say that most of Cracker Barrel’s business comes from Duck Commander fans or those sympathetic to him. I imagine that a large portion of their clientele not only support Phil Robertson but are aware that the Bible does declare homosexuality to be a sin.

I wrote to Crack Barrel and mentioned that their stand on this issue means that I will probably live a few more years, because I will not be dining in one of their high cholesterol inducing restaurants again. I got the following reply:

Maybe we should boycott them and go to Chic Filet instead, (the restaurant owned by the God fearing – Bible believing Cathy family that won’t open on Sunday in order to allow their employees time to spend a day with their families and attend church). The liberals threaten boycotts and use their wallets to support their belief system; why not believers?

So now all of TV’s talking heads are tearing up the airwaves (and Phil Robertson) for saying the unspeakable, that homosexuality is a sin. I wonder if everyone would have gotten into a tizzy had the Duck Commander said that pride was a sin, or lying, Oops sorry wouldn’t want to dump on our Prez, who now officially holds PolitiFact’s “award” for having told the Biggest Lie of 2013!

Not all that long ago Mr. Obama was asked in an interview what he thought defined a sin. The President of the United States responded that it would be anything that “goes against his moral compass”. So what does that say about the moral compass of the man who holds the highest office in the land when he has just been named the biggest liar in our country and is being slammed even by liberals daily for deliberately misleading the public?

It tells me that folks including Mr. Obama should get back to the Bible to learn what God’s moral compass really is. The Bible doesn’t tell us to hate homosexuals; in fact it tells us just the opposite. It tells us to love them and pray for them; it says the same thing about those who are prideful, liars, slanderers, adulterers, thieves, gossips, and so forth.

The same Bible that so many seem to hate with a passion provides a loving way of reunification with God in spite of our sins and make no mistake, we are ALL sinners. It tells us in Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. That includes me, you, and the entire world.

The good news is that in 1 John 1:9 it states “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness”.

And in Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

God loves us in spite of our sins and He instructs His church to love Him in like manner and likewise love each other. Phil quoted that too, but it has not gotten much play.

Folks can get on the airwaves and curse, strip down to the buff, and even copulate, with impunity, but let someone speak out against immoral behavior and militant groups launch their attack immediately. It is because they are not putting their faith in God, but in themselves and humanity and in the “If it feels good – do it” mantra.

Most of the talking heads I’ve heard on television don’t know what the Bible really states. I feel sorry for them and prayed for them this morning and yes I prayed for Barack. We are to hate the sin, but love the sinner. A prime example of this is the Coptic Church in Egypt. Muslims looted and burned down their centuries old churches, raped and martyred the Christian families that attended there, and the next day some writing appeared on the walls of the burned out and gutted churches. It read, “We forgive you!”

Hmmm . . . It is a shame that so many people misunderstand the word of God and the message of forgiveness, mercy, and compassion of Jesus Christ. Coach Bobby Bowden told my wife and me at breakfast recently that he was on the talk show Hannity. He was waiting backstage to appear when liberal commentator Juan Williams came walking by. Suddenly he stopped turned around and came back over to where Coach Bowden was seated and with a sneer on his face asked, “What’s that?” and pointed to a cross on Bobby’s lapel.

The coach looked incredulously at him and stammered, “It’s a cross!”

Juan Williams shook his head and turned and walked away with a stupid looking grin on his face. Bobby told me that it was the strangest incident he’d ever seen saying. “Surely he knows what a cross is”.

I assured Bobby that he knew exactly what he was doing. He just wanted to ridicule Bobby for being a Christian and wearing a cross on a national television program. I don’t label this political correctness, rather political stupidity.

The Bible tells me to pray for non-believers and I go into tough prisons and pray with men and women that have done some pretty horrible things. Oddly I find it easier to have compassion and love for them than those educated buffoons who always seem to be in a position of power and on the airwaves who ridicule those of us who believe in the Bible and follow God. They portray us as ignorant hillbillies from the deep south and themselves as all knowing educated wise men.

The test of a true believer is to forgive them. We are not to judge; we are not to condemn; the Bible handles their condemnation very well on its own and in due course God will fairly judge them thank you very much.

God doesn’t need help from us in that corner, and His Bible has withstood the test of time and is still the best-selling book the world has ever known. They cannot stamp it out no matter how hard they try. It is futile.

By separate e-mail I will be sending you an uplifting letter today or tomorrow at the latest. I am hopeful that you will read it in its entirety, especially the attachment. Literally hundreds of thousands have heard the word of God and many have made decisions for Christ in 2013 and you will be excited to see what God is doing and getting ready to do. Have a great day today!

John 8:7

When they kept on questioning Him, He straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”
