Someone recently sent me a political cartoon depicting President Obama playing the fiddle while the United States was burning in the background. It was portraying the Prez as the infamous Roman emperor Nero who “fiddled while Rome burned to the ground from a fire that he was rumored to have set himself.

The free dictionary defines “Fiddle while Rome burns” as an idiom with the following meaning: “To do nothing or something trivial while knowing that something disastrous is happening.”

That pretty much sums up Obama’s performance as President. Our economy is in shambles, our military and health care systems were at one time the best in the world and are now a disaster, our energy policy is insane, our president will say one thing publically, and then flatly deny that he ever said it, (even with video clip evidence clearly showing otherwise). Amazingly the mainstream press says nothing. We were once respected all over the world, and are now laughingstocks. Our allies no longer support us and every two bit dictator in the world is ridiculing us with just this week Vladimir Putin calling out Secretary of State a “liar”.

Huh?

I received tons of hate mail during the election whenever I pointed out the obvious that he was unfit to serve as President of our once great country. He’d never had a job in his life aside from organizing protestors for unions, and didn’t distinguish himself in school or in the Senate He attended a radical church where the pastor hates white people and is anti-Semitic, and he even hung out with the convicted terrorist Ayers, and the list goes on, but not enough folks were listening and 52% of our voters voted for him.

Worst of all for me is that Obama champions everything that I oppose as a Christian. No nation since the history of the world has ever condoned marriage between anyone aside from a man and a woman, but Obama did along with a myriad of other pro-homosexual issues. His anti-Christian stance is the nastiest of any President, and the worst of the worst of it is abortion, and not just ordinary abortion, but partial birth abortion. He was the only Senator to vote to authorize a physician to kill a baby outside the womb that somehow managed to survive an abortion.

Egad! How can someone who claims to be a Christian support this man.

He might as well fiddle, (or play cards, vacation, or play golf) while our country is systematically being destroyed, because he is no more qualified to lead this country than a man in the moon.

I’m sure I’ll hear from some of you today, but I stand by the truth and the truth needs to be told.

So where is the bright side in this mess? Nero was an early persecutor of Christians and was known for having captured Christians in order to burn them in his garden at night for a source of light. Obama hasn’t gone that far yet, so I guess we are blessed. Other than that I don’t see one.

I pray for our country every day. I ask God to awaken those lazy Christian who didn’t vote to get off their lethargic butts and vote. I pray for others to receive Christ and that they too would vote for someone who is decent before it’s too late. The United States is fast approaching the fate of Rome. It is being set afire by those who have no moral compass.

Sorry to end the week on a negative note, but I worry about my grandchildren and others and what will become of them and this country if it keeps heading down this path. The Bible tells us that if we the people will turn to God, He will heal our land. We need to get down on our knees and pray and get into the churches all over this land today. We need revival.

Sigh . . . That’s it for this week. Have a great weekend and please join us at Honey Lake Church and hear a truly great man of God Bobby Bowden this weekend. If you cannot make it, go to church somewhere!

2 Chron. 7:14

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
