So the roadside bombs that have plagued other parts of the world are finally going off right here in the United States. Boston and the Boston marathon are the start, of it; where will it end? I suspect that it will change our society forever.

I remember when flying used to be easy. Now, (after the terrorist attack of 911), a trip to an airport has become a major ordeal and billions of dollars are being spent and untold millions of hours of inconvenience are endured trying to prevent another plane from being hijacked.

From this moment forward events like football games, baseball, basketball, concerts, church, seminars, or just hopping on a bus or subway to go across town, are all potential targets of people obsessed with killing and maiming innocent people. Then you have that little sawed off egomaniac in North Korea preparing to launch missiles at the United States and its allies. We live in dangerous times.

Yesterday evening I spoke, (and gave my testimony), at a local college psychology class and afterwards discussed addiction and other ills of society with the students. They were anxious to know how to combat the many problems that plague our society and were trying to identify the root causes.

I was asked, “What causes people to go south? Is it poverty, or perhaps divorce and broken homes?”

Well yes those are certainly factors, but not the root cause because drug addictions, alcoholism, criminal activity, and suicidal tendencies strike the wealthy and folks from “good” homes too. In fact just this week I got three letters from parents or siblings who are worried that their sons and daughters will commit suicide and are asking me to pray for them and perhaps counsel them. All apparently come from good homes with families who love them.

So what is the root cause of all of these maladies? I believe the problems are derived from a society that is turning away, (or already has turned away), from God. Declining church numbers, elimination of prayer (and discipline) in schools, societal legitimization of dark sins such as homosexuality, abortion, and pornography are all taking their toll.

When society turns its back on God, He will turn His back on it. If you don’t believe it I highly recommend that you read the book of Judges in the Bible. The Bible states that if a farmer plants corn then he will reap corn – In other words “we reap what we sow”. Evil begets evil.

Many don’t want to hear it, but the facts remain. God will not be mocked, ignored, overlooked, disregarded, discounted, snubbed, unheeded, flouted, discounted, or disputed. The world was created by Him for Him and not us. If this country refuses to turn back to God and recognize that it was founded as one nation under God, then there is little hope for it. We need revival in this country.

In order for revival to occur we need to elect leadership that recognizes God as our Supreme leader and His Holy Bible as law.

So what can we do? Ordinary people can pray, get involved with a church and support a worldwide ministry such as ours at Honey Lake, and importantly vote for those who want to restore God and His laws in our country. The Bible cites countless examples of repentance in the Bible whereby entire societies repented or turned from their wickedness and back to Him. He in turn blessed them mightily.

It can happen right here and what better place; it has to start somewhere. I urge you to do your part. Get involved with a good church. (There are plenty of them out there; you just need to keep looking and remember I said “good” and not PERFECT.) Spend some time earnestly praying. And get involved with electing decent representation. Vote for folks who love the Lord and support those who are working diligently to convince a society heading towards disaster to get on their knees and humble themselves before our almighty God before it is too late. Don’t give up!

Gal. 6:7

Don’t be misled — you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
