Yesterday I drove over a road that has “benefitted” from the infamous Obama stimulus package – You remember that one don’t you, the one that amounted to nearly a trillion dollars?
There are two ponds (that look more like swamps) on either side of this road near Havana Florida. Apparently some of the turtles that inhabit the two ponds like to walk from one pond to the other and several got splattered as they crossed the highway. This problem was viewed as being of the utmost concern by our current administration. With turtle splatterings on the rise the general population was in a tizzy.
Something had to be done!
The solution: our country needed to borrow just a tad over $13 million dollars from the Chinese to build a turtle crossing underneath the road. Now after tearing into the road with heavy equipment and working on it for nearly two years the turtles and even some snakes and other critters can cross from one pond to the next with impunity. They have their own elaborate tunnel road that goes underneath the highway. I drove over it yesterday and didn’t see hide nor hair of any turtle remains. I have not examined the statistics, but I assume turtle splatterings are down substantially.
I am thrilled at this turn of events. I’m sure some of you turtle lovers out there feel the same. Yesterday the North Florida Economic Development Association met at Honey Lake. They wanted me to welcome them to HLP and as I awaited my turn to address the attendees I heard them talking about the needs of their various counties. I didn’t hear even one of their officials address turtle splatterings in their counties.
I am aghast!
Okay – okay I suppose I made my point about the ridiculous low point that those in power in our country have taken our country. I mean we have people starving in the streets living off food stamps, homeless, addicted to drugs and alcohol, incarceration levels at astronomical levels, defense budgets being slashed, health care declining, and so on, and our leadership is building turtle crossings???
I’m sure to hear from PETA and turtle lovers everywhere, but give me a break! I believe God gave us wonderful brains and we need to use it and put it to good use to solve some of the difficult problems that face this world. It seems to me that a blithering idiot could find better uses for our money than to build a $13 million dollar turtle crossing. I would rant about a waste of my tax dollars, but it isn’t even our tax dollars for crying out loud – We had to borrow it. My grandchildren got saddled with that debt that we now owe to China.
Romney said in the debate the other night that it is immoral to heap this astronomical debt upon the future generations of this country. I believe that to be the case. When will our country return to sanity? Hopefully it will begin November 6th. For heaven’s sake, VOTE for Romney or if you prefer, Vote against Obama!
